This craze and outbreak of drug use has been seen and contributed to the prohibition in the United States. This is because since now drinking is legal the people who found their refuge in doing the illegal in thing they now have become drug dependant. Recently is when the two situations have been linked and that the people have seen that both are connected by the mob and are run the by underworld lords of the time. Along with this came the new sentiment that the United States must do something about this situation and become a country free of any illegal vices. At this point the antinarcotics associations have looked at how the prohibition fixed the situation to start to put an end to the new narcotic craze.
In an effort to lessen the wave of prescription opiate addiction, the legal system has pushed many already-addicted people to a cheaper, easier to score opiate high—heroin.” (Renter, 2013) However, the regulations haven’t decreased the alarming amount of young adults who are currently addicted to pharmaceutical drugs. The government
It also helps top up our already overburdened judicial system by decreasing the stress on the courts and allowing police officers to concentrate their attempts on other matters. With marijuana being legal certain social group won’t have to be targeted as the one selling the illegal drug. Certain subjects show that Black and Hispanics are the main groups of drug dealers and are usually involved with the illegal activities. With marijuana being legal a reduction of stigmatizing will happen. In increase to drug dealers, through prohibition marijuana is forced to be traded in the disastrous market.
One one side people attest bigotry, racism, and even the financial interests of big corporations as reasons, whereas the other side cites the fact that marijuana is, in fact, a drug and inherently harmful to both individuals and society. Opponents also point out that legalizing recreational marijuana is a violation of international law, specifically the United Nations Single Convention of Narcotics Drugs of 1961 (www.UN.org). There can be no doubt the effectiveness of the CSA concerning marijuana is less than stellar. To be effective one would have to say that people, first off, would agree overwhelmingly that use or possession of marijuana should be a crime in the first place. Even using the words 'legalization' and Federalism and Marijuana 'decriminalization' invite debate as one would suggest that the illegalization was right and proper and the other suggests the criminalization was the wrong thing to do in the first place, thereby creating a culture of criminals where there should never have been.
When Marijuana is illegal, you have to find a drug dealer or someone who sells it. This can indeed be dangerous; but that also helps keep some people away from perusing it. If you were able to have a friend or someone you know buy it for you over the counter, yes it would definitely be safer; but it will be pretty much in the hands of anyone who wants it now. And having a increased population of people smoking pot will not benefit in anyway. It will only make the people become even more lazy then what we already are.
Legal Brothels Legalizing prostitution is the safest way of sex being sold. Many believe prostitution should be legalized and some think it should stay as an illegal act. Nevada is currently the only U.S state that has legal brothel prostitution. Prostitution is often viewed as degrading to women and morally wrong. However, with the current social issues, prostitution is going to continue.
Why is there countless evidence that the reason there are drugs such as cocaine, LSD, heroin, and speed? "Take a holiday from reality whenever you like, and come back without so much as a headache or a mythology. "(Huxley 54)This quote made me feel that our government puts there drugs here to “condition” us in a way. These aspects of life seem to me like a way for the government to do things like population control and to get rid of lower class, by having drugs readily available for us the consumers. If the government were to advertise drugs I think it would go something similar to "A gramme is better than a damn.” (Huxley
And if they think they need the benefit or if the gain is much more then the punishment, then they will probably choose to do the crime. And there is also the sociological theory. This means that people are committing crimes because of their environment. What I mean by this is, people that live in areas like the government projects or low-income housings, do not have a lot of money so they resort to maybe selling drugs. They probably choose to do so because this kind of enviornment are flooded with drugs and they can be easily bought or sold to make money.
It can easily take over a person’s life, as I witnessed in High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell with Boo Boo, Brenda, and Dicky. I saw three people become controlled by a drug addiction. The three truly did not want to steal but they felt the need to because of their addiction. Boo Boo was portrayed as harmless individual but needed to steal to get money for drugs. The most noticeable for moment displaying how serious their drug addictions were was when I witnessed Brenda going through a withdrawal because her body was craving the drug.
Some long-term effects are: suppression of the immune system, growth disorders, increase of abnormally structured cells in the body, or inability to understand things clearly. The foundation for a drug-free world feels very strongly when it comes to be being against marijuana; rather it’s with their arguments or by their name. It seems like they want to free the world of all drugs, not just marijuana. They talk about the affects of drugs like heroin, crack, cocaine, and even crystal meth. With marijuana they really stress negatives that it can do to your body.
