Canada is a country that borders on 3 oceans, celebrates cultural diversity, and has been “glorious and free” since 1867. It is rich with natural resources that could sustain a population much larger than ours currently, and our mineral resources are the envy of other countries. Canadians however, often forget about our “true north”, and now we are realizing the consequences of leaving that area unprotected. Other countries are now making claims to our arctic waters, claims that should not be allowed. Canada has rights to the arctic waters between its land because of the mineral resources found, although we need to enforce our presence in order to achieve Canadian arctic sovereignty.
Everyone has a place and a memory that they will not forget whether it’s the beaches of Panama, Florida to the rainy city of Seattle, Washington. The place that is the most memorable in my life would be the time I spent at the Chena hot springs in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Chena hot springs is a very interesting place because of the remote area it is in, as well as the natural surroundings and aspect of a hot spring. The Chena hot springs to me is a place where one can find anything and everything from peace of mind to natural outdoor beauty. The springs have aspects to them that most outdoorsmen would die to see such as; dog sledding, streams and rivers for fishing, and of course the relaxing and sensual hot springs of Chena.

The main reason for going however would have to be for enjoying the beauty of the environment. From the beautiful centerpiece of the park, called Bethesda Terrace, to the more rustic charm of the North Woods, Central Park changes from festive fountains to pastoral retreat all in the space of a few city blocks. There is also a fully functional National Weather Station located at striking Belvedere Castle, an outdoor performance venue at the Delacorte Theatre, two skating rinks, and a public swimming pool. An absolute must do activity for me however, would be a boat ride around the lake followed by a fantastic meal at the Loeb Boathouse restaurant, located conveniently on the lake. The boat ride ensures privacy and the beauty of the surrounding scenery on the lake.
