I think again the individual who become narcotics addict does not have strong motivation in the other direction. Junk wins by default. My husband told me that he were just curiosity and his friends was using it. And one day he started feeling sick and that when he know that he was a addict. Before my husband die, he got cleaned but it was to late for him.
My father was an alcoholic!” John’s says that he sort of listened but eventually forgot as time passed. He experimented with various drugs as well, some for personal exploration, some to see why others were doing it. Drugs were never John’s thing and by this thirties he was a regular, heavy drinker.
Teen Suicide Does anyone actually know what a teenager goes through in life? What they are really thinking about? It seems that teens like to keep a lot to themselves but that only makes a situation worse. Teens who attempt or commit suicide can be an outcome of depression, bullying, and even guilt. Just like Conrad’s parents in Ordinary People by Judith Guest, many are unaware of the dangers and thoughts faced by teens that could lead to suicide.
When most of the students go to the party, they end up drinking over their limit. Even though the students had enough and face hard time on drinking anymore, and some who do not want to drink, they end up grabbing the cup of alcohol with their friends and starts to drink again because their friends forces them or they feel some kind of pressure from their friends to take shots with them. Here is the source from the article, “Peer pressure is a huge factor of binge drinking” (Margaret Stunn). It is an immature thought but most of young students tend to think that people who can consume a lot of alcohol are cooler because they can get more intensions from other students. Also
Marijuana use has many dangerous side effects even after one has stopped using the drug. According to McGuinness (2009), “Mood and cognitive effects of marijuana include exacerbation of depression and anxiety (including panic attacks), as well as memory problems that may persist for a month after last use” (p. 19). The facts surrounding the negative impact of smoking marijuana should be enough for anyone to not smoke the drug. Unfortunately people ignore the warnings about the negative impact mariujana has on the body. The warnings about marijuana use are most likely ignored because people, especially teens have not personally witnessed anyone suffer from the affects of marijuana addiction.
Addiction the “Strange Side” Jennifer Fernandez Addiction can take on many forms some of which we call “normal” or “usual” addictions, these can be gambling, alcohol, and even over eating. Others are a bit different, a little on the “odd” or “strange” side. There are more people who suffer from these strange addictions then I realized. After watching the show “My Strange Addiction” on TLC, I was amazed how many more addictions there really were. The one that I am going to talk about is a young man named Nathaniel who suffers from the addiction of objectophilia, which is when someone develops a strong sexual and emotional relationship with and inanimate object.
We all know that kids go around our back to parties and have a few drinks with friends but not many parents will stop this. This is not good, this is what is encouraging them to be worse later on. Firstly they are testing there boundaries, which if there are none, will make them believe they can do anything and get away with it, these habits would carry on into their later years when it comes to driving and they will become reckless because they believe that they can get away with anything. Secondly we shouldn’t be encouraging underage drinking because it will inflict an addiction onto our children that is close to impossible to shake off, if the kids are getting drunk every weekend at the age of 15 or 16 imagine what would happen to those same kids at 19 or 20? Melbourne's Murdoch Children's Research institute has done a study where 1520 teenagers drinking habits have been tracked for 10 years.
However, these teenagers also live in fear of getting caught for drinking and thus, consume their alcohol in unsafe environments; typically, these dwellings are where they can “escape” disturbances and predicaments, but usually encounter more. These environments are generally unsupervised and in groups of “children” that are ignorant of responsible drinking habits. Due to their apprehension of being caught, teenagers tend to never confess to an adult of the troubles they encountered as they drank and, therefore, may further affect their experience. Thus, if the drinking age was lowered to eighteen, a teenager would have the ability to be more straightforward with their drinking and would be able to drink in more supervised locations. They would also begin to drink in moderation since there is no longer the appeal of a “forbidden” rebellion.
)?Some teens are peer pressured into drinking while some may drink because of depression. People can be affected by peer pressure in many ways and also by many people. Friends, strangers, and sometimes relatives can peer pressure teens into drinking and that can lead to things such as alcoholism and depression which can be avoided by raising the age to drink. If that isn’t enough teens who are depressed continue to drink which leads to harm to themselves as well as to others.
These images of celebrities drunkenly spilling out of nightclubs are every where and they’re making binge drinking look glamorous for teens. These celebrities get drunk and do drugs and this behavior is advertised throughout the media. This type of behavior influences teens widely and can be very harmful to teens as these celebrities behaviors rub off on teens. Teens may be lead to think that it’s normal to drink like this as their favorite celebrity does this and they’re beautiful and famous. This causes teens to turn to drinking as teens think this is cool and think this can help them fit in and be accepted by their peers.
