One of the main reasons feminism has lost supporters is that business have worked to over-power the image that represents feminists. Feminists are portrayed as bra burning, hairy-legged, man- hating, and lesbians. This image of a theory as caused women to back down from the fight, and that’s exactly what organizations against the theory want. Many women are against being feminist, they find the word unappealing. The stereotype attached to feminism isn't considered beautiful by our cultural standards and as a result, this stance becomes unappealing to women because the worst thing you can call a woman in our culture is ugly.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton fought for women to have legal rights, have better jobs, and higher education, even though many men shunned her. First off, many women fought against the laws that discriminated against them. In 1848, Stanton met with four other women for a social meeting. They decided to form a convention and get together to “discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of women (Brown).” This convention was called The Seneca Falls Convention. The women campaigned for full female equality.
The laws governing prisoners' right to vote are often referred to as disenfranchisement laws. Globally, there is a concern about whether these laws single out poor people or specific races of people. Every human has rights but they also come with responsibilities to maintain that right. They originally are given the right of freedom in a governed state but they have the responsibility to follow the laws of the state. The debate over whether prisoners should be allowed the right to vote is a heated issue.
Alice Paul Alice Paul did a lot for women by challenging the law to get equal rights for women. She protested like no one else ever had, was chairman in the National American Women’s Suffrage Association (NAWSA), and founded the National Women’s Party (NWP). Alice Paul even fought for her rights in prison; she is a very important part in women’s history. If it wasn’t for the things Alice Paul did for women we probably would not have the equal rights we have today. She even worked very hard to write the Equal Rights Amendment.

Women throughout time have suffered from oppression in society and in their own marriages. Gender roles are not something we are but instead something we do. It is completely unnatural for women of today to be the money makers, everything to the children (taxi, disciplinarian, etc..),take out etc cook, housekeeper and so on yet still their husbands will is forced upon the entire family instead of taking his place with his wife as partners. This was the mindset the public had about what women should do before the civil rights movement. They discriminated against women because they believed that women were not smart enough or weren’t strong enough to work. That soon changed when women in the United States also rebelled for equal rights under the civil rights movement. In 1963, Women received their first break, Congress passed the Equal Pay Act which made it illegal for employers to pay a women less than what a man would receive. In 1967, President Johnson's policy of 1965 was expanded to cover discrimination based on gender.
Her use of pathos in the beginning of the article creates a sarcastic tone for the rest of the article. “In recent pictures it's clear Angelina Jolie hasn't taken the time to learn or understand the long and painful history of African-American women and hair.” Right off the back Samuels directly insults Jolie. To go with the insult she discusses the history that African American women have with their hair. The author wants to make sure if the audience is ignorant about the subject as she believes Jolie is, then she is going to explain it to them. Her harsh diction is grabbing the audience’s attention and is also trying to get the audience to feel a particular way.
Source G talks about the daily struggle of a woman living under the Taliban regime. These women can’t even walk outside there house with out completely coving themselves, getting rid of any bit of self expression. Its taboo for women to shake hands with men. A women seen talking to a man is punishable by death. That is just wrong.
