Are You Proud To Be An American? It is a great privilige to be an American. We have many rights and freedoms that other countries don't have. Most of us have grown up taking these freedoms for granted. We need to remember how fortunate we are to be American citizens. In the United States, there is free public school education.
In the story, “The Earth on Turtle's back,” an ancient chief tells his wife, who'd had a cogent dream previously, “When one has such a powerful dream, we must do our best to make it true.” The American Dream is the confidence in the opportunity to live a life the way you wish to live. Americans are dream chasers; we dream a life and strive to towards being able to live it. Dreaming is one of the most valued things an American can do, and having the ability to fulfill those dreams- even more so. Another attribution to the the concept of being an American is knowing where you came from, or your ancestry. In the story, “When Grizzlies Walked Upright,” an ancestry is explained.
Jon Cunningham English 1301 Dr. Miller 22 Nov 2013 An American Conscience The United States of America has been a beacon of light for those seeking to live a life free from oppression. Those landing on her shores come seeking a life where they can achieve any dream they strive for and the freedom do as they please without fearing recourse from an oppressive government. According to our Constitution, our government receives its limited powers from the people and is held accountable to those same people every election cycle. These same people expect their government to make and pass laws that reflect the good of the country as a whole and respect the individual liberties that each citizen enjoys. Closer examination shows that our Constitutional
Ted Turner and the American Dream The American Dream started when the pilgrims came to America to start a new life for themselves. They came to make new opportunities, start their families and begin something fresh. Even without people relocating, that same dream is still around today. My definition of the American Dream is that you can make a name and a living for yourself in America, and be independent in supporting yourself. Ted Turner exemplifies the American dream.
Oberfell 1 Majorie Oberfell Professor Regan CSEN-2630 15 June 2012 The American Dream The American Dream is a national ethos of the United States; a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity, success, and an upward social mobility, achieved through hard work. American Dream America is known as the land of opportunities. People from all over the world come here to pursue the American dream. Though the meaning of it varies from person to person depending on their perspective, to me it means freedom, opportunities, financial independence and success. Hamilton’s theories on the American economy were commonly respected and accepted as valid. American leaders recognized that expanding the workforce was the fastest way to get the economy up and running. Especially the incorporation of immigrant workers was a leap towards industrial efficiency. Hamilton foresees they “would probably flock from Europe to the United States to pursue their own trades or professions, if they were once made sensible of the advantages they would enjoy”. Immigrants were optimistic; after all, they had chosen to attempt an American adventure and wanted to live the American dream.
Bianca Moran December 3, 2012 English 114 Professor Schwartz Patriotism Redefined For this extensive but yet very precise research paper, I decided to read the book Born on the Fourth of July by Ron Kovic. I chose this book because I consider myself to be pretty patriotic; I myself wanted to join the forces right out of high school. Every time I see an American Flag or hear the National Anthem, I can’t help but feel proud to be an American. Every time I see an advertisement of any Branch of the forces I envision myself in that uniform serving my country. However, unlike Ron Kovic I was able to realize and see the reality behind what those advertisements really show, before signing up and selling myself to my country, and decided to
Terrence Brathwaite Enrollment Services For Internships and Academic Services Why I would like to work for the Federal Government The Federal Government of America is a well respected and protected source of employment. There are many branches and niches for everyone to exert and put their working skills to use in. I would personally like to intern with the Federal Government because I am simply curious about what kind of experience it would be, I know that it would be a great resume builder, and I have always wanted to take part in a career where I can directly give back to my country. I do take pride in my country and I’m grateful for the way that my government is run. Now I would like to become part of it.
America is great. Being an American is a special privilege that everyone in the world wants to have. Everyone wants to be an American, because it is the best country and has the best people in the world, right? That is what children are taught in elementary school, anyway. They are special and everyone wants to be like them.
