Canada's Modern Anti Semitism Anti Semitism is alive and well in Canada (Lysiane Gagnon). Anti Semitism can be described most commonly as hostility directed at Jews just because they are Jews. For the past 28 years, the League for Human Rights, B'nai Brith Canada, has been documenting and investigating Anti Semitism in Canada, and standing up for the dignity and respect of Jews in Canada ( B'nai Brith Canada). Anti Semitism continues to be a threat that lurks just under the surface in Canadian society. Some of the more obvious forms of Anti Semitism that we can observe are through statistics, violence and protesting at universities, and one of the more modern types of Anti Semitism, "New Anti Semitism".
Aboriginal Canadians have, over the years, become victim to a tremendous amount of discrimination by the Canadian government. The Indian Act of 1867, which signifies one of the earliest forms of discrimination, took away a significant amount of power from the hands of Aboriginals. Aboriginals living within Canada have also suffered as a result of poor living conditions and extreme poverty. Although poverty is a national issue, it is especially prevent among the Aboriginal community. The White Paper of 1969, which attempted to assimilate Aboriginals into Canadian culture, is considered to be one of the most severe forms of discrimination directed towards this group.

The first era of women’s hockey peaked in the 1920’s until the 1980’s, with teams and leagues being developed in different regions and continents. Hockey during this era of the 1920’s was preserved to be an attitude of a men and boys sport. During the 1920’s male athletes were described almost like machines since hockey has been a male preserves they were ambitious in everything they did when it came to hockey. The sport was characterized as being rough, aggressive and physical.
Until the late 1960’s, the dominant perspective among sociologists analyzing discrimination was that prejudice and intolerance were the causes of discriminatory actions. Other observers have focused on individual racists and have seen the problem as the individual motivated by hatred of a given race other than their own. Certain areas of American life are seen as transcending racism and sports has been one of these. While it is true that the admission of blacks to the ranks of college and professional sports was slow in coming, it is also clear from an examination of college and professional teams today that blacks and whites coexist and work together on teams in nearly every sport. Yet, a closer examination shows that racism has not been eliminated from the sports world any more than it has from American life in general.
The major issue today is the economy. Since the American economy currently has a stock-market crisis, we are bound to have one in the near future. All Canadian citizens are responsible for choosing their leaders, keeping in mind the issues that affect them, namely foreign policy, the environment, and the economy. The Canadian soldiers in both Iraq and Afghanistan need to be brought home, as our current foreign policy is not effective. We are losing numerous troops due to continual terrorist resistance, and we have to change our tactics to suit the circumstances.
