Benjamin Franklin “Life’s tragedy is that we get old to soon and wise too late.” This quote comes from the most wise men in history, Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin is known for many inventions throughout his life such as electricity, his interest in the lightening rod, and the bifocals. Throughout his life, he had been through many hardships, but he was also a very smart man for his time. Little would we know, Benjamin Franklin would have such a huge impact on our lives not only by inventing very many different things, but also teaching us things about some of the things he went through in his life. Franklin would begin to work for independence. After his son’s appointing, Benjamin began to tour the middle and northern colonies in 1763 and was elected the speaker of the Pennsylvania Assembly in May of 1764. However, in 1764, Franklin lost his seat due to a very bitter election in October of that year so Franklin had decided that he was going to move back to London in December of that same year. Because going to London resulted in going over-seas, Deborah, Benjamin’s wife, had refused to go with him and when he returned to Philadelphia in 1775, Franklin had quickly learned that he was a widower.
