The phrase ‘death chariots’ with their association of death, violence and destruction has the intended affect to fear readers of these manic, destructive young teens. It is this appeal to fear which evokes activity in the community to promote a change in society. Wowser also refers to the waste of ‘our tax dollar on a futile and ineffective effort to lower road toll by advertising’ reiterating that the law in place is not desired. This evokes hostility and a want for change in readers. Wowser adds an appeal to community service in saying it is rare ‘to find a young person who is a member of the Salvation Army’.
In Harry Brown, night raids turn into a large scale riot which is a powerful example of the negative influence of peers. In Blackrock, Scene 21, Ricko, Jared and Tiffany are talking to each other, when an argument breaks out. Ricko is drunk, and wants Tiffany to have sex with him and Jared. She resists and Ricko tries to rape her but Jared restrains him while Tiffany runs away. This incident is an example of physical violence and contains both themes of the negative influence of peers, and more importantly, powerlessness.
I believe he felt this way because he did not approve of the behavior of many black people; he also felt that the percentage of black people in jail was too high. Moreover Shakur felt that a lot of youth do not want to listen when people try to show them a way out of the ghetto, which does not involve street life. However, he became a target of sorts because people began to bully him. He was having rocks and other objects thrown at him. It was not that he spoke to upset, assault, or intimidate anyone. It was due to his revolting appearance that frightened people this not know on the peoples behalf lead them to do what came naturally which is to feel threatened and fight. It is horrible to not be able to understand something and then you turn to murder and think that is the answer.
His failings include the real value of imprisonment, the false hood of the risk of being raped or murdered; the simple reality that the author fails to see is that violence promotes more violence. As humans we need to stop the violence at all cost, in our schools, in our work place, etc. Flogging or horse-whipping publicly will not do that. We as human beings need not to revert back to Puritan times as Jacoby suggest, but to find answer to control the overcrowding we have in our prison today and to help those that are coming out of the prisons to make sure they stay
Anyone who was positive in the movie they tried to hurt or they killed them off. Young minorities are faced with theses images everyday from music videos on down to television shows and I feel that it was an awful depiction of black culture. I do feel that the movie is detrimental and can taint a young urban minorities mind; it could lead young men and women to idolize criminal lifestyle. When Goldie refers to himself as a “hero” I could almost imagine what is going on in a young teenager’s mind. Their probably thinking the movie was great or they want to sell drugs, be a player or pimp just like him without seeing the truth.
To Whom It May Concern: Do you want your children and students getting an extra dosage of vulgar language, sexually rated scenarios, and issues that are awful enough to cause depression? In the book The Catcher in the Rye all of these issues are present. Everything from filthy language written on walls, to the purchase of a prostitute, all of this is present in this novel. This book is not helping solve the issues that teenagers are facing in these days. That is why it should be banned from schools across the country.
Society is immensely focused on eliminating prejudice words since it is believed they are violent. Eliminating words is not an easy task when context comes into play. Huckleberry Finn can use a word prejudice against African Americans and not cause as much controversy as the very utterance of the word by stranger. The author speaks about a memory on a subway when he over heard a group of teenagers using a derogatory term against homosexuals. He explains the fear he felt when he heard the term since he was homosexual himself.
“Black on Black Crime in the Hip Hop Industry” Black on black crime is the biggest issue that lives within the hip hop community. The problem these days is that people are so worried about what everybody thinks about then rather than just living life to the best of their ability. You got people hating on whose got more money, who’s selling crack on which corner, or who can pull more “bitches”. The music that is around for young children to see is outlandish. Nobody cares about what car’s you drive anymore, or about how much money you have.
The 1960s is the decade where many changes occur, music would change people’s way of thinking, the war that just kept destroying families and people’s life because no one would surrender. And the group of people who protested against all this violence.
