What are the three dimensions to business problems? Provide two examples of each. According to the readings this week the three dimensions to any business problem are people, organization, and technology. The Organizational problems that are inherent with some businesses include poor business processes, these are usually inherited from the past, unsupportive culture, and changes in the environment surrounding the business. The Technology problems almost always include aging hardware, outdated software, insufficient telecommunication equipment, and incompatibility of older computer systems with new technology. The People problems in regards to business problems include employee training, difficulties of evaluating performance, legal and regulatory compliance, ergonomics, poor or indecisive management and employee support and participation. What is the difference between IT and information systems? According to the readings this week Information Technology consists of all the hardware and software that a business need to complete the objectives that have been set for that business. This does not just limit the term to just computers and operating systems but also to disk drives and hand held devices. Information Systems consist of a set of interrelated components that collect or retrieve, process, store, and distribute information to support any decision making, coordinating, and control in an organization. These systems also can help a manager and their workers analyze problems, view complex problems and create new products. An example of an information system would be a supermarkets checkout counter. When the cashier scans the barcode of a product the computer that is at the counter connects to a main server and retrieves the data for that barcode. This information is then displayed on the monitor with at least the name of the product and the price of the
