This type of friend, in either category, knows when what’s being asked of them is too far; they are also those who want to see the best in you and will always be by your side, even when the going gets tough. Most of all, a true friendship is a mutual symbiotic relationship and it’s these relationships that are an essential part of life because friends help us through tough situations, they offer hope make someone feel worthwhile. Many books and/or short stories try to capture the importance of these relationships and in any form of literature we see either healthy friendships or ones that will never last. The last three pieces that we, as a class, had to read we were able to see how “friends” interact and how friends are supposed to act based upon the teachings offered by Aristotle on the subject matter. All three of the texts of “Melvin in the Sixth Grade” by Dana Johnson, “Book IX” by Aristotle, and “The Man who was Recklessly Curious” by Miguel de Cervantes are written on the subject of friends, however all portray their message in different light.
Stephen works hard when it comes to music and it would not have happened without his mother or father’s support. The bonding of the Nakane family came from their passionate love for music. Stephen turns out to be the most interested and becomes so attached to music that he has grown more famous than his father. However, his love for music then disconnects him from his family. By the end of the book, Stephen seems to have given up on his Japanese culture and has detached himself from the language; due to the influence of Aunt Emily.
My second strength would be having the capacity to love and to be loved. I am very kind hearted I love unconditionally. I love to love and I love to be loved and I know in order to be loved by another, you must first learn to love others; that includes yourself. To represent this on my coat of arms I place a heart in my second section, for a heart generally represents love. My third strength I put in this section is being grateful.
Elliot is proving to ET that he can trust him, that he will protect him and that he will keep him safe. This is an important part of friendship, trust. You have to be able to trust your friends, you want to be able to tell them anything, and count on them for anything. Establishing trust in a relationship early on can really make it a true friendship. Another trait reflected in ET and Elliot’s friendship is loyalty.
Clark believes that sorrow is turned into pure emotion and Sonny's music becomes an expression of history (31). The most obvious part of that statement is that Sonny does turn his music into his emotions. This is how his music seems so real to his brother. As his brother pointed out, while he sat and listened to Sonny at the club, he made it his own. As Sonny took control the other musicians gathered around him and they seemed to be encouraging him on, saying amen every now and then, as if he were speaking some words they desperately believed in.
Events like this in the past showed George the tremendous amount of trust and faith Lennie has in him because he listen to George no matter what since early in their childhood and because they grew up together. Throughout the novel, Steinbeck refers to a dream … the American dream, George and Lennie’s dream. This dream is the strong pathway of the wonderful friendship and is something that both George and Lennie share. They talk very confidently about dream so it makes the reader feel as if it will definitely happen, however George knows somewhere in the back of his mind that it is not possible. But he keeps this from Lennie because of his obsession with it.
Having people who actually care around you can give you the strength to accomplish anything. Knowing that strength will be there when you need it allows you to have faith through everything. Faith was a common theme in the three of the essays and I believe it should be a common theme in our lives as
At times he feels that they are bonded by competition and deep enmity. Other times he feels that Finny is sincere, honest, and a true friend. After Finny’s injury and return to school, Gene feels it is his duty to protect Finny and enforce Finny’s ideas and beliefs even if it means not following through on his plans to enlist or personal goals. Considering Gene’s descriptions of the events in the novel, his descriptions of Finny, and his descriptions of their relationship, write an essay arguing whether or not Finny is a good friend to Gene. Also, you may want to consider and include whether Gene would have been better off without Finny in his life.
