Each level varies in what you will do and how much you will make for the rest of your life. Although being a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse both allow you to practice nursing skills, being a registered nurse will benefit you in the long run. If you're interested in the nursing field but don't want to go through two or four years of schooling then becoming a licensed practical nurse could be your calling. According to the bureau of labor statistics a licensed practical nurse takes a course that is usually a year in length and then starts practicing in a work environment. If you would enjoy getting a college experience and have no rush being thrown into a work environment then you might want to look into registered nursing.
I would love to have the opportunity to graduate from nursing, because I have a strong desire to help people and make a difference in the quality of their lives every day. What is also noteworthy about nursing is that there is no another job as rewarding as being a nurse. Each day I will have an impact on patients´ lives, and have the opportunity to save someone´s life. I think there is no reward greater than that. Searching in different schools, I found that this program has a bunch of resources not only solid basics of nursing theory , but also nursing practice as well as clinical experience that will give me the opportunity of been successful in different practice situations.
Graduate Study Challenges and Strategies for Personal Success James Kevin Saunders HCS/504: INTRODUCTION TO GRADUATE STUDY IN HEALTH SCIENCES/NURSING February 27, 2012 Linda Amankwaa, Ph.D Graduate Study Challenges and Strategies for Personal Success The last 18 years of my life have been spent advancing and maturing my career as an Emergency Registered Nurse. I started as an Emergency Department (ED) nurse tech while in nursing school and then was hired into an ED as a graduate nurse. Over the following years, I have performed and mastered all aspects of Emergency/Critical care nursing in several different settings ranging from a five-bed ED at a community hospital to a level-one trauma center at a large urban tertiary hospital. I have obtained and maintained national certification as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) as well as numerous other profession specific certifications. The time had come for the next step in my career.
new ways of working and practices that health visiting would offer. During this week I felt I had stepped out of a job that I was competent, comfortable and qualified for and reverted back to being a student again. My mentor did keep introducing me as a qualified nurse who is currently training to be a health visitor which made me feel less of a novice but in this first week it did almost feel like starting from very beginning. I was welcomed by the team and the other staff in the health centre which gave me a sense of belonging from the first day. The week was very interesting and I learnt a lot about the role of the health visitor and where they fit into the wider healthcare team.
I have chosen Walden University due to the flexibility that will allow me to continue to work and ultimately achieve my goal. Walden is a one stop university that will allow me to complete my goal and stay at one place. My advanced education will allow me to understand the nursing process and advanced theory of nursing. I hope to ultimately own my own clinic and work there as a nurse practitioner until my retirement. It was a lengthy process of searching online and talking to multiple university advisors to locate which universities were rated top ten.
Being there made me scared but encountering the nice nursing staff and doctors made me feel more secure. I would always ask questions like do you love you job and what made you become a nurse. Getting those answers and having those experiences made me feel more competent about the career choice that I was playing on pursuing. As I got older I began to do research on the field and I learn that it was not only a rewarding career but it was an auspicious one also. Nursing is one of the few careers
Because of the event, I joined the Red Crescent society in school and learned some first aid skills. But, I was not really settled on a career direction when I was in my secondary school and changed my ambitions frequently as I was interested with other helping careers, such as psychologist, counselor, and early-childhood teacher and so on. After the release of my SPM results – which was better than I had expected – I was unsure of where to go, science or art stream. As a result, I went and met my school counselor, Madam Wong. We had a counseling session and it inspired me lots.
Coincidentally, after evaluating my own thoughts and opinions about the elderly, I remember once coming to the same conclusions. Approximately 11 years ago, after graduating from nursing school, I had my mind set on pursuing a career in emergency medicine. I desired a career that was exciting and dynamic, so as to keep myself enthused and always learning something new. What I have come to find in my nursing career is that from day-to-day, at least from the perspective of an emergency room nurse, I see much of the same thing. I see patient complaints and outcomes repeated daily.
I know that there is so much hard work I have to go through to get to that position though, but I’m already starting it. I have volunteered at the Staten Island University hospital for a year. I worked hard to get good grades into the Medical Program at school. Lucky for me those good grades paid off because I have been a certified medical assistant since I was 16. I am determined to obtain all of the experience and knowledge that it is required to get to where I want to be when I am older.
She has overcome numerous obstacles and hardships in her life to become one of the most successful, respected and trusted women in recent history. When Oprah made the statement that “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity”, I believe she is speaking from a place of experience and observation, and I believe her words to be absolute truth. In my adult life I have decided to further my education and prepare myself to be a better nurse as well as a better role model to my children. While completing nursing school I made the difficult choice to continue full time employment in the medical field while raising three small children. While my road to RN was a challenging one, when I completed my goal I was able to instantly transfer into the position of telemetry nurse at the local hospital.
