The article "We Should Cherish Our Children's by Kie Ho, a business who was born and raised in Indonesia, explore the idea of freedom to think in the American schools. Ho argues that America’s education is not advanced in academics as other countries, though it is surely much better in other ways than many countries in the world. Ho shows that American education tends to teach young children to develop their own creativity more, rather than trying to fill their brain with knowledge, like a can of sausage. The article consists mainly of the personal experience of Ho and his son in American school. When Ho was young he always had to memorize things, such as all the major cities in the world, lines from Hamlet, and a lot of math formulas. Instead I had a new topic every week to discuss, search it for further information and finally make a presentation to the class. But that hadn’t been done some teacher, I had it with a teacher who holds a master degrees in education, English literature and psychology of student behavior. I had the most engaging class that motivate everyone in the class to speak and listen
