Bullying has been going on for years and not only in school but also all over. When is it ever going to stop and look for something good in someone instead of the bad things? Going to school should be exciting, seeing your friends and learning new things, but for some it’s the worst part of their day. Going to school shouldn’t be a punishment.
After Mandrell was burdened with the complaints of her class, she went home to meditate on the day’s new found conclusion: the students thought her class was a nightmare. With this thought in mind different questions ran through her mind. How would she meet everyone’s needs? How could she lighten what the students thought to be such a heavy burden? According to Mandrell, teachers know how to meet the student’s needs,
The technical convention of close-up shots is used to show the importance of education through the facial expressions which show desperation, anger and joy of the families of children applying for charter schools. During the final scenes of the documentary, we learn that some children were accepted and some were not. This makes the reader sympathize with the children who were not accepted. The symbolic convention of body language is used to show the importance of education through Ruby’s actions in the isolated classroom. On the seventh page of the book, Ruby is focused on doing her work in an isolated classroom; Ruby seemed to ignore the fact that she was isolated and fully immersed herself in her textbooks.
"After the darkest storms come the brightest rainbows." My mom told me this repeatedly through the the hard times and many times after, and it's a quote that I'll remember all my life and will help me overcome setbacks that I experience. I'll always know that no matter what I go through in life, I'll be able to deal with it and I'll most likely be better off in the end. Now, entering my adulthood, I realize how fortunate I have been to have this type of mother, someone who loves me unconditionally and has always been a part of my life. In fact, I often find myself using her method to others around me.
As Alice had to grow up basically looking after her self and her younger siblings she learned that even if you do not have support you still need to follow your dreams and live you life. This is a large aspect to how Alice discovered herself. Alice's parents get extremely angry at her and blame her completely for the accident. She struggled with school like I have sometimes. She refuses to speak most of the time and she misbehaves in ways to try to give meaning to her life or to avoid the pain she feels deeply. Her grades start dropping and she loses interest in almost everything. I had to keep a secret once. A secret I felt like I couldn’t tell anyone because of the fear that if I told my whole family would hate me.
Geddes’ essay was effective overall and managed to get the point across. There is a transition throughout the essay, from the start of her childhood to growing up into adulthood. The reader is able to understand the respect that she has for her family and community in the beginning and then the harsh reality of the intolerance for diversity as she goes to school. In the end she does realize that she is good enough to go to post secondary despite what people may have said earlier. Believing in yourself and remembering where you come from builds character and you should not let anyone tell you otherwise.
Working hard towards something that could change a life is exactly what she is doing. She has her head on straight and is looking forward to helping each and every student one step at a time. The many life lessons she endured has strengthened her, and she is taking that strength and using it for a good cause. h This year, math teacher Angela Munday began plans to re-establish a volunteer mentoring program that faded away years ago, for students at the high school. My feelings on the issue are mixed. Although I do support Fish’s and Blum’s position that a person should be taught and shown how to avoid plagiarism by their teachers, I also believe that a person who plagiarizes should be punished for what they have done. Last year, in my English class, our final assignment was to give a farewell speech to the class describing our experiences in high school and our goals in the years to come ahead for after we graduate. We had about a week to write this assignment and as a few days passed I still couldn’t figure out how I even wanted to start my speech. So, like most do when they need some inspiration, I turned to the internet to see if I could find something similar to the assignment I was assigned.
Colleges all over the US have decided to raise the amount of standardized tests that are required to be considered to be accepted into their college. Colleges and ACT have come together to create the all new ACTT. This test will be required for all students who wish to apply to any college in the US. The new standardized test comes with reading, math, english, writing, science, and social studies.
