Verbal & Numeric Hypothesis Review of the statistical literature shows that violence & crime decrease with stricter gun laws in the U.S. States that have stricter gun control laws have fewer deaths from gun-related violence. The hypothesis is that with stricter gun control crime and violence will decrease. They also add to this hypothesis that stricter gun control laws will have fewer deaths. The statistics will show the difference from gun committed crimes compared to other objects used in the same crimes. The data will show that most murders are committed with guns.(NIJ, 2012) This study includes verbal and numeric hypothesis statements. The verbal hypothesis is constructed as follows: ➢ Research Hypothesis: Does violence & crime increase or decrease with stricter gun laws. ➢ Null Hypothesis: There is no difference of violence & crime increase or decrease with stricter gun laws. The information presented below provides an aid to the numerical statement. [pic] This research hypothesis states in 2005, 11,346 persons were killed by firearm violence and 477,040 persons were victims of a crime committed with a firearm. Most murders in the United States are committed with firearms, especially handguns. In 2006, firearms were used in 68 percent of murders, 42 percent of robbery offenses and 22 percent of aggravated assaults nationwide. This allows us to reject the null hypothesis that there is no difference of violence & crime will increase or decrease with stricter gun laws. From this data analysis, we can reach the conclusion that gun control can decrease the violence and crime committed with a gun. The values are categories.
