Only 773.3 square miles are land and the remaining area is water from the Atlantic Ocean. The county is composed of five major cities: Jacksonville, Baldwin, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, and Atlantic Beach (City of Jacksonville, 2011). The Naval Air Station in Jacksonville is the major employer for the county. It employs 25,000 workers as of July 2011.
