These methods are delivered in three different settings, or levels: primary, secondary, and tertiary. This paper will use childhood obesity, school aged children, and diabetes as examples to compare the different levels of health promotion. Examples of evolving roles and responsibilities of nurses in implementation in all fields of nursing can be noted throughout. Historically, the primary focus of health promotion was to protect communities from preventable infectious disease by implementing preventative measures such as providing safe drinking water, and mass vaccination (Edleman, 2010). As changes in human behaviors and habits emerged with the advancement of technology, the scope of health promotion shifted to more contemporary methods.
With reference to examples, evaluate the success or otherwise of urban regeneration schemes in combating the causes and consequences of urban decline. the need for urban regeneration is present as soon as an area starts to enter the "downward spiral" of deprivation. This is the theory that there is a knock on effect which leads to the decline of an inner city area. Urban regeneration, theoretically, can be tackled by starting with any point on the downward spiral, and setting about on reversing the loop so the chain reaction is a positive one. Although urban regeneration is a worldwide issue, it has been especially present in the urban areas throughout the UK in the last 30 years, with the government introducing many different schemes to try and combat the causes and consequences of urban decline.
As the US primary care system confronts provider shortfalls due to demographic trends, the growing prevalence of chronic disease, and low proportions of physicians choosing primary care practice, a possible solution is expanded use of physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs). This solution is supported by a large body of research demonstrating high quality of NP and PA care and by recent research suggesting that higher proportions of NPs in primary care clinics are associated with improved outcomes among patients with diabetes (Morgan, Abott, McNeil and Fisher, 2012). In my opinion the most important role of human resources in healthcare is ensuring the delivery of services that provide quality, efficiency and equity to its consumers. There are numerous studies that demonstrate how the use of nurse practitioners as primary care providers can significantly assist with meeting current healthcare deficits. I feel as though the utilization of nurse practitioners as primary care providers can greatly assist with the delivery of healthcare to the millions of Americans that will be covered by the
Equality, diversity and rights P4 All employees within a care setting are entitled to promote anti-discriminatory practice in the workplace as it is key to combating prejudice. National initiatives come under the sector of anti-discriminatory practices in order to overcome discrimination. I will be discussing one law, one policy, one charter and one code of practice/code of conduct which cover anti-discriminatory practice. These initiatives are highly important within health and social care setting as it helps to ensure that all individuals are treated fairly and equally regardless of age, race, culture, disabilities, etc. Those who work within a health and social care setting must follow a charter.
HIPAA for Allied Health Careers Discussion Board 2 Enforcement of the HIPAA privacy, security, transactions, and identifier standards, as well as of related fraud and abuse laws, has a significant effect on the daily activities of allied health employees in all health care settings. It is important to be aware of the serious nature of penalties for violations of applicable laws and to understand the steps that can be taken to avoid even the suggestion of improper conduct as an employee. Explain the purpose of the HIPAA final enforcement rules? The purpose is to reconcile differences in enforcement procedures that had existed between the privacy and the security standards by imposing a single rule, this one single rule is the HIPAA Final
SCHOOL OF COMMUNITY, HEALTH SCIENCES & SOCIAL CARE ‘Discuss the contribution of the Victorian ‘Sanitary Revolution’ to improvements in the health of the population.’ INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC HEALTH 11/14/2010 Public Health concerns the wellbeing of a population and links the physical and mental health of the individual to its environmental balance. The significance of urban planning and sanitation to promote environmental balance, together with hygiene and good nutrition to prevent illness, are characteristics of ancient cultures such as the Egyptians, the Greeks or the Romans. (Baggot, 2000, p 15). Nonetheless, the Victorian age (1837-1901) witnessed a rise of concerns regarding public health, particularly in the new industrialised towns, and a sanitary revolution took place aiming to improve the population’s health via a better environment. Later on, concerns about individual health and cleanliness to prevent disease encouraged the development of the Health care and welfare services.

Policy Priority: Safe Staffing for Nurses Stephanie Minervini Chamberlain College of Nursing NR506: Health Care Policy July 2013 Introduction Inadequate staffing is becoming an increasing concern for not only nurses but the public as well. Research has found a strong connection between low nurse staffing and higher rates of patient complications. A study from the New England Journal of medicine determined that patient mortality was significantly related to nurse staffing levels. Staffing the right number of nurses with the right knowledge and skill base to meet the needs of patients is essential to achieving optimal nursing outcomes. Sources that can help us plan staffing models or determine appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios include standards defined by professional nursing organizations and regulatory agencies, and benchmarks from the American Nurses Association’s National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators.
Unit2: Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care. M2: Assess the influence of a recent national policy initiative promoting anti-discriminatory practice Human right Act 1998 has ensured that everyone has the right to be treated with fairness, respect, equality and dignity. Human right has given every individual the right to be respected, the right to life, right to marry, right security, the right to privacy, right to freedom and religion. This assignment is going to assess the influence of Human right Act 1998 promoting anti-discriminatory practice. The human rights act promotes anti-discriminatory practice by making sure that everyone has the right to be treated equally with dignity and respect.
31). Nurse managers focus is the health of the unit or institution through effective resource management as opposed to leadership’s focus on creating a vision for the institution. Effective nurse managers are well acquainted with the process of CQI and HCAHPS scores. Key aspects in their role are collection of data, review, and implementing programs to address deficient HCAHPS scores and evaluate process improvement in CQI. Effective managers use their authority with staff not over staff by use participatory decision-making that is base upon the more contemporary human relations management theory The managers use of four core aspects of management: planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing staff is key in implementing new measures to achieve high overall HCAHPS scores that in turn presents improved CQI indicators and revenue for the
