Unit 341 Leading and motivating a team effectively Outcome 1 1.1 Teams are at there most effective when the members have a common sense of purpose, without it teams are lost. A team’s purpose is determined by considering the company’s vision, mission and values as well as there own. By considering and trying to align with the company’s vision the teams own purpose should not risk conflict or failure. Each team member should have input into the teams purpose, as this will result in a shared purpose which will build a happier more productive team. My team’s main purpose, inside the organisation, is to achieve and maintain a stock accuracy level of 99%. If this stock accuracy level is achieved and maintained it means the organisation can complete part of its mission and be operational 24/7 365days a year, as no shut down would be required for stock takes. 1.2 Communication plays a large part in establishing a team’s common purpose. With good communication each member of the team understands what the team goals are, reduces misunderstandings and allows each member to give input and feedback. Bad communication can lead to team members skills and knowledge not been utilized to there fullest. I use several different types of communication to achieve and maintain a common team purpose. At the start of each day team members are sent e-mails detailing that days goals/tasks. This is followed by several face-to-face discussions during the day to monitor progress and see if goals/tasks were understood correctly and to give the team members the opportunity to give input and feedback. Meetings are held on weekly basis to discuss that weeks tasks and how effectively they were carried out. 1.3 I believe the communication that I use is effective and clear as there is very little miscommunication inside the team and every member understands the
