They have the right to have the choice to do this and you must respect it but you also have the duty to keep them safe.

This includes the use of any available resources such as, equipment; for example the use of hoists, for the movements of manual and people handling, ensuring training is up to date for example attending any relevant training courses, such as first aid training and health and safty. To implement agreed ways of working you follow the Policies and Procedures and the service users care plan, where the management of the individual's daily care needs are agreed and documented. It is extremely important to have up to date agreed ways of working as there may be changes in policies within the law. Our company may have to implement them to help protect the vulnerable. You have a duty to keep service users safe by following policies, procedures and working within your job role.
It is important that staff work as a team and give support to one another. Teams take time to work well and it’s success will depend on how well the team is managed, ground rules should be established that will ensure people can work together in most situations e.g. * Recognise that every team member, regardless of their role or status, has an essential contribution to make. * Always ask for advice and clarify anything you are not sure about. * Find out the ways decisions are reached and the team members that should be included.
The support workers roles is too make sure they support the individual to there best of there ability and follow their care plan. It is the support workers role to provide the client with good quality of care. To do this you need to involve the individual in any decision making and encourage both there participation and feedback. The role of a care manager fulfils the role of a registered manager. The manager will be available to talk about any issues concerning the individuals 24 hours a day or if any problems occur.
Policies and Procedures will be found in our office and can be accessed any time. To implement agreed ways of working you follow the Policies and Procedures and the service users care plan, where the management of the individual’s daily care needs are agreed and documented. It is very important that you have up to date agreed ways of working as there may be changes in time to time depending on service user choice and circumstances. If you do not obtain a latest copy of agreed ways of working you will remain unfamiliar to the recent changes. And unawareness of recent changes might result in danger and harm of you and the individual you will be working with.

I have to always be aware of these standards, and understand the impact on people, if I don’t work towards them. Reflecting on standards, gives me the chance to keep up to date, with any new standards. 1.4. My own values and beliefs could affect the job I do, within my role if I don’t have an awareness of my own values. I could find it hard to accept other staff members values and beliefs, and feel mine are the right ones.
You also have to know your job discription as it is there for your protection and the residents. 2.2: In my workplace we have a training board that gets updated every so often and we also have a handover which tells you what has happned the night before or in the day. 2.3: Follow your code of conduct and your code of practice which would be: Choice, Independance, Safety, Respect and Dignity. 3.1: To make sure you are doing your work correctly because if we all work together with the one focus we will all understand the residents needs. 3.2: To improve partnership working in a workplace there needs to be good communication , regular meetings so that all the staff are kept up to date with what is going on.
