Zacarias Reed March 23, 2012 ANT 305 The Ones That Are Wanted Exhibition Corinne Kratz, the author of “The Ones That Are Wanted,” discusses photographs in a touring exhibit that traveled around the United States, which later became the subjects of her book that showcase the photographs. The pictures evoke certain reactions and thoughts, which will be discussed in this essay. The reactions and thoughts presented in the photographs will be different for each individual based on their past experiences, prior knowledge, and context of presentation with the photographs. The reactions and thoughts discussed below are those that arose after gaining prior knowledge and context of the photographs through the prologue of “The Ones That Are Wanted.” The initial reaction that I experienced was curiousity on multiple levels, including a basic interest with cultures that differ from my own. The Kaplelach and Kipchornwonek Okiek, the people in the photographs, immediately appear different from the United States culture I have been born into.
