Unions: Are They Beneficial or Hindrance Student’s name: Institutional Affiliation: Unions: Are they beneficial or hindrance In Canada, unions have various influences in the working environment and society; some have been beneficial and others a hindrance. Unions have to make sure that they achieve their goals, and ensure that the comforts of workers are looked into. In this way, they remain beneficial to the workers. There are also about three questions that the unions have to answer to prove they can achieve their goals. The first question is whether the unions have been able to better the working conditions of workers in Canada. The second query they have to answer is whether they have succeeded in attaining wage improvements for the members of the union. The third question is whether the union leaders have shown support to the members when there is a legal conflict or a law suit involving them. The main objective of a trade union is to ensure that there is a safe working environment for the workers, who have the same objectives. Members of the trade union are united to reject any form of discomfort or prejudice that may arise from their superiors or managers. Trade unions are able to negotiate on matters related to work with employers. They deal with various issues ranging from wages and salaries to the working environment or conditions of the workers. The union goals must ensure that the following objectives are attained. First, they ensure that there is unity among the employees, by providing them with the influence and powers to negotiate on their working conditions and wages.
