LO 1.1 Explain why working in partnership with others is important when working children and young people. When working with children, it is vital that they receive all of the services they require. Unfortunately it is unlikely that one person or professionals is able to provide everything a child needs and also what their legal obligations may entail. Because of this it is important to work with partnerships to ensure they receive the right level of care and services they need. “Partnerships are there for a child’s wellbeing and protection” (Budden 2014). This statement is very bold and concise. It outline a partnerships overall aim and has the focus on the child at heart, rather than having monetary gains as a strategic goal which is often the case with most organisations. Through the involvement of partnerships it allows a child’s safety and wellbeing to be maintained, no information gets overlooked and problems can be solved and signs of neglect can be spotted more efficiently. A child’s development will be monitored and ensures a healthy progression during their early years. By having partnerships in place and interacting with them on a regular basis, if needed, allows the child’s safety to remain a priority. It also helps the child’s parents to have access to all of the services and support they may need for their child. By understanding the importance of working with partnerships, allows for the protection and security to be maintained, their development to be monitored and controlled and to safeguard their general wellbeing. However recognising and knowing when or where to use these services are the key to safe guarding the child or young person’s wellbeing.
