Golf Operations In this report, I will be writing about the different types of golfers and what each type of golfer requires from the Golfing market in a given area. I will also be evaluating Golfer wants and needs and how different facilities are provided to meet the specific demands of Golfers. The casual Golfer. This type just doesn’t even bother keeping score at times and play for the fun of it and average less than ten rounds a year. A casual Golfer would normally play on a rather big course mainly for the enjoyment of being surrounded by a well manufactured course and fresh air. If these people were to be taking scores, they would most likely be playing with fellow casual golfers for the interest of seeing who is better. Sticking the ball 20 yards to the flag is the equivalent of a professional getting a hole in one, and hitting the fairway for them is like a professional hitting the ball straight down the middle of the fairway. The casual golfer’s expectations when playing Golf is for the course to be in pristine condition and for facilities on and off the course to be in top nick. They require easy access to their local courses in order for the golfing market to keep them happy. The serious Golfer. Most serious Golfers have a low handicap which means they try hard to become the best they can. Normally a member of a club, the serious Golfer competes in regular monthly medal competitions; their aim is to get as low score as possible and beat opponents. To draw a line between the competitive Golfer and serious Golfer is easy. To be a competitive Golfer, you play as much as you can and compete in national competitions almost like your average amateur. A serious Golfer normally plays once a week in a medal at your local club and will not take winning or losing as serious as being competitive.
