TV Influences in Children Many parents, child care providers, and educators are concerned about how much time and which kind of program children are watching on the television. Children under the age of six spend more than two hours every day watching television or any screen media. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that young children under the age of two should no watch television. Children under age of six or up should watch just a minimum of 2 hours daily. Children viewing many hours of television are missing time to realize that there are so many important activities in their lives; such as, participating as a family together, playing with friends, creative and outside activities, music and sports. Another issue is that they are exposed to inappropriate and incorrect programs without control. Researches demonstrate that children viewing too much television have negative effects: children have attention difficulties, aggressive behavior, and they are more likely to be obese. Television is a device anti-experience and anti-knowledge that separates the individual from his environment. A child who watches television for long hours loses connection with what happen around him: no smell, no touch, no feeling of weight and temperature, or texture of anything. Children lose all kinds of sensations, and all the wealth of sensory information coming from the senses through its nervous system neurons. Such experiences are so important because they are the ones that help them develop their intellect and neurological systems required for their personal and skills for future.
