Even though these devices come with many ways to read, most people do not use this to their advantage. People mainly focus on applications, such as games, that come with these devices. The change from reading a book to playing a game on a digital device can drastically affect a person’s intellectual ability and attention span. Not knowing the effect that all of this technology will have on them, people will gradually become less educated. All of this explains another thing that the book
“The young may learn from their elders; and the old may learn from the young. To What extent and how is this true on Moses Aaron’s ‘Elijah Greenface’ and Clint Eastwood’s ‘Gran Torino’? Throughout the ages, it has always been that the young learn from the old through their knowledge and wisdom, but in the modern age this is not always so. This may be because of the technological advance handed to the newer generations, which has highly influenced a new way of living. Now it is the young leading the way, embracing and learning the benefits of the computer age, however the elderly can still guide the young, learning about life values and experiences.
Students sometimes become so dependent upon technology that they are not exposed to the traditional ways of learning. Because some students might rely on technology in every area of learning, they might never experience what it is like to visit a library or read a printed textbook, especially since so many books can be purchased on audio now. Other disadvantages are that students’ handwriting skills might suffer due to a lack of practice because of their use of the computer to always write reports and essays. Always relying on the computer to find and correct errors while creating documents can result in students having very poor progress in grammar and spelling skills. Because many students also rely on the computer’s calculator, their ability to learn the proper methods of solving math problems might not be as enhanced.
Cynthia Moore: How do you see your career growing or changing? Jenny Graves: I feel my career growing all the time as the days go by, because I gain more experience and more insight on being an educator. I am always learning new things from my students that help me to better my way of helping them. Cynthia Moore: What do you think teachers today lack the most? Jenny Graves: During my years of teaching I have notice that most of the time they lack passion for what they do which causes them not to put all their effort forward.
They may not understand the social rules which most of us pick up without thinking and may stand too close to another person in their actual space or start an inappropriate subject of conversation .They can be insensitive because they have not recognised how someone else is feeling, preferring to spend time alone rather than in the company of others. They may not seek comfort from other people and behave strangely or inappropriately, as it is not always easy for them to express their feelings, emotions or needs. Difficulties with social interaction can mean that people with autism find it hard to form friendships wanting to interact with other people and make friends, but don’t know how to do this. Difficulties with social imagination mean that people with autism find it hard to understand what other people's are thinking, feeling and their actions and cannot predict what will happen next, or what could happen next. They also cannot understand the concept of danger, e.g.
It is not just cognitive ability that is affected by the illnesses progression, other things affected by this are language (not being able to understand conversations/not being able to communicate their thoughts and feelings fully/ forgetting words), understanding direction/instruction, the ability to make decisions/plans, vision may be affected (not being able to see things in 3D/misjudgement of distance or surroundings). A person with dementia may also lose the ability to control their emotions, they could lash out through frustration or confusion, being of short temper and irritability will also be a possible symptom as dementia progresses. People with dementia can still live full lives within the community and do not necessarily need to live in a care home as long as they have the right support and assistance with the things they find difficult. Dementia is a progressive illness, meaning symptoms become worse over time, each person with dementia will find their symptoms progress at a different speed to others’. As dementia progresses behaviours may become erratic or unusual, behaviours such as pacing, agitation, repetitive questioning or restlessness.
Our system could also look into hiring more teachers with the added benefit of speaking multiple languages and creating more jobs in our area. As older teachers are joining our workforce in the pre-k systems it is helping our program grow in many different areas, including knowledge. We value our older workers because they bring knowledge of what has worked over the years, this is something several jobs do not look
The program gives you challenges and opportunities to become a better citizen. The instructors are not like teachers, they put in an effort for you to actually try and build up. You do leadership tasks; you help younger teens, participate in things that other teens don't get to participate in. The class isn't boring, you’re always learning about new things, we do weekly current events, and uniform wear. Wearing uniform teaches us responsibility; we have to make sure that our uniform is in order, and has everything on correctly.
On the other hand, some youth have the attitude of hearing without listening; they want to escape from what is the reality. That’s why even though they hear it already, they totally ignore it. They use different kind of pastime activity, just to escape from their problem even in a short period of time. Most of the students spent their time playing computer games or video games and joining in any peer activities in order to relax and entertained them from being pressure. Not only students but also matured individual are being involved to this unfavourable situation.
I always feel that unless you are learning something from young people then you’re not really working with them. Unfortunately, so many adults do not understand that young people have their are their own culture and discriminate against them accordingly without giving them a real chance to change people’s perceptions this again is one of my aims in working with these disaffected young
