When acknowledging her, she has won a Nobel prize for her literature which gives the U.S. citizens a strong sense of credibility further establishing ethos, Morrison writes phrases to share her thoughts like “thinking carefully” and “more compelled by the quality of mind.’ These phrases gives us the sense that she has been thinking of the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses and acknowledged which will be the better president for this time. Thus, giving her our trust in return for our vote towards Obama. Toni Morrison uses the rhetorical appeals of logos, pathos, and ethos to win over the legal voters of the United States and convince them that Obama is the best choice for this country as president. Morrison believes Obama will show Americas full potential to the
By doing this he helps us relate a little better to what he is about to address. He uses his prior knowledge to make his point more concrete and credible, “ethos”. With the use of ethos he gives creditability to his speech and validity to his message. Implicating that everyone should listen; he is the authority. The speech is compelling because it possesses the necessary elements of effective and persuasive rhetoric; in summation, Obama’s rhetoric works.
I definitely think that the American primary system should be reformed. There reason why I think this, is because after analyzing the benefits of the current primary system and a potential reform I see more benefits for the citizens in selecting their presidential delegates in a national level than in the current method. It is true that the current primary system allows the American people to familiarize themselves with the potential candidates and that is a good featured.
In addition, Anna Comnena’s genuine belief in her father for not only being morally sound during his reign, but extremely strong in his strategic planning, creates an endearing, but still effective, record of history. Anna Comnena’s strong background in education, her status as a princess, and even her gender, has played significant roles in the fact that we would not have the insight we do if it were not for this woman. But greater than all of these attributes, was Anna’s admiration for her father, Emperor Alexius I that created a unique window that we see today. Anna's pride in
Standing up for what is right and fighting to achieve your goals. To me those are all great things that makes the greatest leader of the country. Sometimes being a good leader means that you have to sacrifice family and friends and the ability to not be afraid of the unknown. Being honest as a leader makes a lot of difference. It makes citizens want to trust you , it makes them want to trust the promises that you've made as a president or leader, or even a mayor.
Both Presidential forms of democracy have their strengths and their weaknesses; after analysing the two the Presidential system of the US seems to be the most effective way to rule because of the high accountability aspect. Things may appear to move slower in that form of democracy, but in times of emergency when things need to be done quickly there are methods to make sure that they are done. Also, the bi-partisan system that is the time consuming aspect of the United States democracy essentially in theory should always produce the best result. This is because all views are expressed and everyone has had a chance to look and see what the best way that they could be accommodated while still trying to come to terms with opposition. Democracy is only one form of government in the world and it may not be right for every government in the civilized world.
Communication is important in all relationships as it allows us to share our interest, concerns and support for each other. Effective communication is based on the way we talk and listen, how we respond as well as our body language. All too often the signals we send are not those we intend to send. Tannen explains “women are often told they apologizes too much. The reason they’re told to stop doing that is that to many men, apologizing seems synonymous with putting oneself down”(para 4).
Huffiington’s article was one that successfully executed the ideas and convince her audience to agree on her stance due to the content within her supporting details. Her ethos was dominant all throughout the article in her references to figures more credible than she. She quotes, “ ‘The campaigns can sort of distract reporters throughout the day by helping fuel these mini-stories, mini-controversies,’ said the New York Times' Jeff Zeleny” (Huffington 4). The reference to a person that works in a prestigious publishing company urges the reader to believe that the idea being argued by Huffington is indeed correct. Huffington also draws in her audience through a specific tone, that which casualizes and personalizes the article, almost as if listening to a person speak.
These qualities that are shown in leaders and individuals have made them successful in life because they posses such traits. We see these traits through history with big names such as Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and even an inspiration of Christianity, Jesus Christ.1 But it isn’t necessary to be someone who has helped to bring slavery to a stop, nor even to heal the wounds of apartheid.1 There are many ways to change the world, even better, to take part in making it a better place. And in this case, I believe that Ellen DeGeneres deserve recognition. Ellen DeGeneres, also referred to as simply Ellen, is not only a daytime talk show hostess who makes her audience throw their heads back in laughter, but also a remarkable human being who uses her celebrity success to make the world a better place. Ellen invests whatever is necessary to heal the hurts of others who have been affected by the loss of a family member, a home or someone who suffers with an illness or economic problems.
They realized the reality of threats to those goals and they did not wish their problems away. The optimistic women were ready to move forward and had the attitude of “let me take on this new reality and deal with it.” Acceptance, positive reframing, and use of religion were the most common coping reactions. The use of humor prospectively predicted lower distress. Even though having a diagnosis of cancer is a blow, the optimist accept the things that cannot be changed, as well as putting in the efforts to change those things they can. When looking at the research that has been done on optimism and what my personal experiences are it is my hope we all pay attention and live life to the
