Scout is portrayed as an unusual girl in To Kill a Mockingbird both in her own qualities, and in her social position. She is intelligent (she learnt to read before starting school), she is confident (she fights boys without showing any fear), she is thoughtful, and she is generally good. Early on in the book, you realise that Scout is the way she is due to Atticus’ upbringing. He has nurtured her mind, conscience and individuality as well as allowing her to make her own decisions on social hypocrisy. The story seems to be told by an adult Scout telling the events of her childhood.
The role of a teacher is to create a warm and safe environment for their students. The reason why the first years of school are so critical is because kids learn the basics they will need for their educational future. Teachers must love their career in order for their students to be comfortable. Teachers are the second mothers and fathers for the students because students spend a lot of time with them. The same way, mothers are not born being great mothers, teachers are not great teachers in a day, but as their experiences with their kids expand, they become experts on the field.
The story was told in first person perspective, with Scout speaking. I think that this mainly allowed us to follow Scout’s personal development; it allowed us to see Scout’s thoughts and emotions. For example, in the beginning of the book, Scout enjoyed terrorizing Boo Radley in an attempt to make him get out of his house. Later on, though, she realized that doing this was really just hurting an innocent person. On page 279, Scout finally understood Boo well, and she felt that she had developed so much that “there wasn’t much else left for her to learn, except possibly algebra.” This sort of progress in Scout’s character made the story much more interesting for me, and helped me to better recognize the messages that the author was trying to convey.
Atticus uses this approach not only with his children, but with all of Maycomb, and yet, for all of his mature treatment of Jem and Scout, he patiently recognizes that they are children and that they will make childish mistakes and assumptions. Ironically, Atticus’s one insecurity seems to be in the child-rearing department, and he often defends his ideas about raising children to those more experienced and more traditional. Atticus Finch isn’t just an ordinary father. He teaches his children things no parent of that time period, or even our time period would even think of doing. Atticus tries to show his children how the world works from other people’s point of view.
Education is when some people consciously teach and others learn from the teacher. If we all teach our kids around the world to be better than we are, regardless of living circumstances, we will change social. The girl theory, is so heart breaking because I feel it is so true. It seems the older I get, the preteen pregnancy is getting worse. In most cases I believe preteen pregnancy is a reflection of that little girls life.
She would reward me if I brought good grades home. She explained to me if I brought home 90s and above, on my school work, I would be able to get something from the toy store the next time we went. She raised me to strive for the best in order to get where you want to go in life. When my mother would discipline me she would explain why I am being disciplined and would allow me to explain what I did and why I did it. She would tell me that I am grounded but will forgive me within the hour.
The purpose is to teach the student how to follow the rules, not to judge him. Fried (2001) lists ten basic characteristics of a passionate teacher. Three of these are caring about students; tolerates absurd and meaningless things that students exhibit in their behaviors, but at the same time critical and very attentive to manners that students must have; avoids condemning ideas of unpopular and young people and attempts to create a culture of mutual
Maybe you are familiar with this line,” I am studying hard because I want to help my parents or give an education to my younger sister/brother”. That’s the natural answer of most of the students like me if you ask them why they are studying. We often consider our family as our main significant others because our parents are the one who brought us in this living world and given us the necessity in life such as clothes, shelter, education and many more. As many people know from experience, the family unit can be a strong source of stability, security, and happiness. It can nurture support, love, and togetherness.
Why do I deserve a scholarship My friends describe me as someone who never gives up. Yes, I would agree with that statement, because I know my own capability in studying. For me, our intelligence cannot be compare with the efforts to be one. As I remember my mum said when I was in form 3, “Don’t compare yourself with your friends, the efforts to study, but find your own weakness, and overcome it.” And from that, I understand one thing, which is to overcome my weakness, practice is a must. So I improved my grade from time to time, and till now, I believe the sentence of study smart, doesn’t fits me very well, but study hard is part of me.
When a person is not the greatest at something one needs a teacher that will make them feel at ease and try to make the subject matter interesting and somewhat easy to learn. I really have no problem with a tough teacher, usually they are the ones you learn the most from. However, I have a problem with a teacher who teaches down at you; instead of , to you. I have never felt as uncomfortable as I did in her class. Mrs. Garvin taught English to the honor students, and she treated them very different than her mainstream students.
