The observer will either mimic or avoid the actions based on the consequences that the person who initially performed the action received. This can be a very useful tool in the development of child rearing. Through observational learning, children learn valuable life-skills at a very young age. Child rearing, otherwise known as parenting, is teaching and nurturing of a child from birth until adulthood. Children learn a lot during this time from watching others, especially their parents.
I chose to do my research topic on The Role Head Start plays in the life of the community, families, and children education. Throughout my career I have had the pleasures of working with different age groups of children. I have taught preschoolers for over ten years now and I have also taught different childcare curriculums. The most exciting and rewarding job that I have taught was with The Montgomery Community Action Agency Head Start program. From a parent of a Head Start student to a teacher of the Head Start program I can clearly say that Head Start has made a difference in my family life.

Wendy Yu HD 15 Ch.5 Journal After researching Professor Alison Clarke-Stewart, I selected the article’s topic about the study of high quality day care linked to children’s cognitive and language development. In the article, the most comprehensive study ever conducted on the effects of daycare has found that young children in the care of others while their parents work generally suffer no disadvantage in cognitive or linguistic development. In other words, children’s cognitive development is not harmed by daycare but the importance of verbal and intellectual stimulation whether provided by a parent, day-care provider or baby sitter in early childhood development. According to the article, Professor Clarke-Steward said that the more attentive, responsive and stimulating caregivers are and the more language they use when interacting with children the better children do on tests of knowledge, intelligence and language. Again, study shows that children are not being placed at a disadvantage in terms of cognitive development if the have high quality day care in their first three years.
The ups and downs experienced during puberty combined with constant parental monitoring can create conflicting results when it comes to relational maintenance. Relational maintenance, according to Galvin et al. (2008), includes the “everyday stuff” (p. 112) in life that keeps the relationship going, maintains satisfaction, and allows connectivity. Relational maintenance can be seen clearly when we look at repetitive rituals with my teenage son Matt. These family rituals involve specific routines, daily tasks, habits, spirituality and communication.
He learns to depend on others too much and he feels guilty about his ideas. If he is successful in this stage he learns that he has a purpose and he is able to face challenges. Industry vs. Inferiority; this stage occurs between 6 years to adolescence. At this stage children begin to develop a sense of pride in their achievements and capabilities. They try to perfect some of their skills they already know.
The basics of childproofing are simple, common sense steps such as outlet covers, cabinet and drawer latches and keeping medicine locked up. Everyone should know these basic steps, but the more in depth your research is the safer your home will be and the lower the risk for accidents in your home. There are several other safety precautions that people should following to make their home a safer place for their children as well as other family’s children that might come over to play. The need for childproofing is extremely evident in today’s society; this is very well displayed in a story from June 27, 2012. Taylor Franklin, a 19 year old mother went outside to smoke a cigarette and stepped back inside to find her 11 month old son on the floor and a bottle of pills spilled nearby.
