Wahab Kashmiri February 23, 2013 “There is no hope of doing perfect research” Do you agree? Griffith’s book “Educational Research for Social Justice-Getting off the Fence” is concerned with research for social justice. She is of the opinion that the research conducted in educational settings should be a committed research with objectivity and without bias. While discussing the issues regarding research for bringing justice, fairness and equity in education, she is of the opinion that research conducted in educational settings is not perfect. “All research programmes have to be constructed on a run. Time constraints and compromises are inevitable. Good research still needs to improve and must be subject to critique” (Griffith, 97). Although while saying this, Griffith is focussing on a specific area, but in fact her opinion holds true in general as well. I agree with Griffith that a research cannot be perfect. “If research were to be perfect, the word research would have been extinct by now”.[1] There are multiple reasons for this. If a research is considered perfect, then there should be no need for further research which is academically not true. A research conducted at a particular time can be perfect for that time and circumstances, but as the time and circumstances change, the outcome of research becomes obsolete. Since the beginning of the world, human being is constantly discovering new things, bringing improvements in the existing ideas and making radical changes in the beliefs with research. This all signifies that no research can be perfect for ever. It has to be an on-going process. “Research is not static. Instead, it is constantly developing and growing as new studies spring from past results” (Gravetter and Forzano, 63). Another reason for imperfect research is that human knowledge is always improving. Man by instinct
