Winning at any Cost In this article the author talked about the use of anabolic steroids in sports today. The article went on to discuss that almost all sports leagues no matter whether it is NCAA or NFL, MLB or the Olympics, they have all banned the use of steroids. That even with the ban of steroids in all these sports they are still abused. It is not only outlawed in sports but anabolic steroids are illegal to buy or use with out prescription. The use of steroids is to try and gain an athletic edge. Steroids can cause a person to get bigger, stronger and faster but they will not give you skill or agility and technique. Many athletes abuse these drugs in order to boost their athletic performance but they may be doing so at a cost. Not only will the athlete be suspended or kicked out of their sport if they get caught, they also may be putting themselves at a serious health risk.…show more content…
All though not all athletes who use them will have these side effects or health problems. But there have been numerous documented cases of the health risks these drugs cause. Steroids have a number of health problems and some of these problems are. Increased blood pressure, high cholesterol, liver damage, stunted growth, torn muscles, acne, stretch marks, tumors, cancer, shrinkage of testicles, infertility, mood swings, depression, aggression and addiction. It is with these problems that steroids are illegal.
