Discussion Board 1 Liberty University Legal Issues In Business BUSI-561 Professor Kathleen Tailer September 14, 2014 Discussion Board #1 Benji Watson’s ethical dilemma is unfortunately not uncommon in society today. Many of the values that were the cornerstone of doing business during our forefather’s time are now considered optional if staying true to said values threaten the profit margin. Benji has to ask himself a couple of questions before he makes his decision. The first question being, “ Can I work for a company that does not share my core values and beliefs?” The next question is a little more difficult to honestly answer when faced with the prospect of a good salary and benefits package fresh out of college, “ Can I remain
The narrator begins to tell you about Michael Clifford’s background and how he came into to the booming industry of for-profit colleges and continues into telling viewers about all that he has accomplished and what he has planned for the schools’ future. The program illustrates the colleges and interviews the people that are making it possible for so many students to go to school and how the process seems so easy. The program questions the credibility of for-profit colleges and interviews administrators such as Mark Defusco, the former Director of the University of Phoenix. In this part viewers get the chance to learn how the former administrators and employees make the for-profit colleges work, from the enrollment process to how much these schools are improving with all the money being made by investors. “College, Inc” continues on to show viewers how for-profit colleges spend more money on getting people to go to these schools than on what the students are getting out of it.

GROUPS I was involved in a group that was part of the Allen Houston Foundation that consisted of young entrepreneurs beginning businesses. The group provided motivation, encouragement, additional avenues and suggestions during times of ambiguity. With the continued support of this group during the most difficult stage of a business which is startup, I developed an unrelenting dedication to the projects and goals that I set for myself. In times of adversity I am now more apt to push through to achieve my goals than to give in to defeat. When I was young I was in a sports group that played some different type of sport year round.
It is often difficult for small chain companies to compete with larger chains, the small businesses often cannot compete with the larger chains prices or sales promotions. In order to be successful, a business needs to have a loyal following of customers in the community, to create that they need to understand their customers, learn what their current product needs are and what their future product needs will be. Customer retention is an important facet of a small business, there will always be somewhere bigger and better the customers can go but if there is a place that is loyal to them, they will in turn be loyal customers. A scholarship can be a major financial package, and plenty of your average college students would be more than happy to take the tuition and actually pursue their studies” (Pheifer, 2012). That may be true, but these athletes don’t stay at college long enough to earn a scholarship. In basketball most players (at least the good ones) stick it out for merely a year, while most football players (again, the good ones) leave after four years. You call this compensation? I think not.
The consequence for the lack of critical thinking in decision making has been revealed through recent corporate scandals such as Enron (Braun, 2004, p. 232). To improve these skills, business leaders believe that more focus be made on teaching critical think in business schools over anything else (Braun, 2004, p. 232). While many professionals agree with this, I believe, rather than waiting until college, these skills and tools can be developed at a young age by shifting from the more traditional passive teaching methods to a more active teaching style. Traditionally, passive teaching has been the most common approach used by professors. This method usually involves professors delivering lectures to students with little to no opportunity for student input through “discussion or experiential exercises” (Michel, Cater, & Varela, 2009, p. 400).

In any open source company there are different supports and service modules available. One option is to hire the company for the installation, or accept a paid service contract for future maintenance and upgrades. There also free support available through a community forum that connects too many developer or users around the globe. All those people are happy to help to solve problems that may arise.
