Edwards and Shillingford (2008) state that “the central premise of choice theory is that people are motivated by five basic needs; survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun. A criminal is able to consider both personal and situational factors, situational factors being efficiency of police force or the level of security; this is the rational choice theory McCormick & Siegel, 2006). Social processes and social structures can all be big factors in this rational choice that criminals make before committing a crime. Crime trends seem to be determined by the presence of targets, motivated criminals, and absence of guardians. All these determinates are examples of how social and economic factors influence the general crime rates.
Write a report on what you have learnt from this unit that could be used to maintain open communication with your manager? Three things I have learnt/ Enjoyed reading Establishing a team plan/ purpose/ goal is the teams main focus point, without having set goals there is no need for a team. The planning process is very important and all team members should be involved at this early and important stage as well be in agreement, the planning stage set by the team members is to create/meet excepted outcomes set by the organisation as well as to establish outputs, key performance indicators and goals . All team Planning is an on going cycle: I believe these steps could be taken as guidelines Planning – Set goals and measures Monitoring – Measure performance, provide feedback Develop – Developing skills and knowledge, improving work performance Assessing – Overall performance of individual and team Rewarding – Praising/ Rewarding good work performance Feedback is so important regardless of what you are doing, It can make or break business/organisation. Feedback implies discussion, reinforcement and
The high-stakes testing model, in the high stakes model everyone is given an equal chance to learn and they take the same test to determine what they have learned. Test is the basis for issuing diplomas, assessment certificate for jobs skills and licenses. In conclusion from my personal knowledge of life economical circumstances outside the power of schools does not create room for any of these models to create equality of opportunity or to compensate for differences in student family income, race, ethnic background, languages spoken at home, cultural background, and gender to provide equality of opportunity after graduation to compete
Using materials like anti-climb paint or neighbourhood watch schemes they make the target harder to achieve, or more risky. This process is called target hardening. An advantage of this is that it directly influences the criminal by allowing them to stop and think about the real consequences to their actions. Another concept that right realists believe should be implemented is a zero tolerance policy. A zero tolerance policy is a tough system of policing that was put into practice in New York, USA, in which even minor offences are punished.
“By tying grades to money, we give students incentives not to take risks” (Vogel, 392) that stop them from choosing challenging courses in college. Students find easier courses through word of mouth or websites that previous students rate their professor in. I always ask people who previously took the course I am interested in whether or not I have a chance of passing the course with a C or higher. Students are afraid of putting their grade point average at risk because the grade point average is a component of the application process that helps colleges decide who to accept. .
Society has a tight control on the decisions people make. People like to say they are not concerned with the opinions and views when they really are. If society views an individual as negative, that individual often views themselves as negative. It can easily be said that a person is and always will be what society says they are. When an individual commits a crime against society they are labeled as a criminal.
Not in all situations because the body mikes could be detected and then your cover would be blown. It would work for long-term case but not for a deep undercover job. Should undercover officers be allowed to break minor laws to obtain the confidence of the targets? Yes, how crazy this might sound but this is for them to get a case going and catch the criminals. If you want to catch them you must play by their rules considering drugs, alcohol, money etc… It’s all part of the game and your job.
Prison Term Paper The cause for this paper is intended to give various reasoning on what sanctions are made and the reasons for implementing them. Whether the reasoning is beyond the opinions of viewers and legislature, as a criminologist I can give my professional opinion as well as my personal opinion on what is needed to be done to reduce the crimes of armed robbery. The definition of robbery would be for Robbery would consist of one or more persons forcefully taking valuables or personals without ones permission by over powering them. While conducting research have to make a professional judgment that will better the criminal justice system. Although this new bill maybe intended to pass criminologist and legislatures need to view the outlooks of this situation and view it from different standpoints in life.
I always wonder why I seem to leak learning things. The answer to that was known two people learn the same and it is up to you to process the information and get the help you need. My dream was to return back to school and get my degree, short term goal that I know that I can achieve. When you are a single mother there shouldn’t be any limits to the things you need to achieve in life. Don’t wait go back to school you are never too old to return to school.
The development of substantive criminal law as happened in the United States over the years, and has been a part of keeping are society some what law abiding. Substantive criminal law is written laws dealing with people versus people, people versus the government, or people versus business. It deals more with crimes and punishments unlike procedural law which would deal with statues of limitations and other court room proceedings. Types of Defenses One claim type of defense you could use to prove that you did not commit the act you are being accused of is to have an alibi. This defense is when you state that you could not have done the crime you are being accused of due to the fact you were not in the location the crime was
