1. How would you explain the nature of the panel interview Maria had to endure? Specifically, do you think it reflected a well-thought-out interviewing strategy on the part of the firm, or carelessness on the part of the firm's management? If it was carelessness, what would you do to improve the interview process at Apex Environmental? The interview was a poor attempt of a panel interview with an unstructured format. First, having five men on the panel was inappropriate. There should be three people on the panel and a diverse group would be the best. I would also prepare for the interview by creating a list of questions and situational questions and a scoring mechanism to be used for all candidates (structured format) and I would have help a pre-meeting with the panel to discuss the format of how the interview would be structured. Each panelist would ask the questions from their area of expertise. I would make sure most questions were open ended and not a yes/no format.
