God vs. Mayas People of all time have searched to understand how the earth and humanity developed. There are many wondrous, mysterious aspects of life which cannot be explained with scientific or measurable proof. Also there are many stories that talk about the creation of the earth. History has left us some creation myths which serve to point us in the right direction by hypothesizing the events that led up to human creation. Two of the most popular myths are Genesis and the Popul Vuh, which explains how the earth was created and how humans were created.
Genesis may be the most known book in the bible to refer to when talking about the origin of life, but there are also several other scripture readings. In Psalm 89:11, credit is given to God for creating the heavens and earth saying, “you founded the world and all that is in it”(Psalm 89:11, NIV). The question of identity is wanting to know what set humans apart from animals. This is another question that should come fairly easy to Christians. In Genesis 1:27, God is in the process of creating man.
But why do both accounts exist? By studying these two stories a better understanding of the religion truths can be found. Also, how both creation stories help humankind develop a better interpretation of God. By reading the Creation stories many differences between the Priestly and Yahwist accounts can be noticed. The Priestly (P) account, Gen 1:1 – 2:4b, was written around the time of the Exile, roughly around 550 – 450 BCE.
First topic: John 1:1-18 Pre-mortal life and the human spark of divinity. The unknown writer of the book of John was writing in context of the culture he lived in. John is very different from the Gospels of Mathew, Mark, and Luke in story emphasis. According to An Introduction To The New Testament, (Boring) the first passage of John, Chapter 1:1-18 was a hymn of the Johannine community of believers of the time. The plot in this story is simple, the Word, attributed as Jesus Christ, helps God to create our world, he then obtains mortal life and while containing that essential spark of divinity, he generously passes on the ability for us to receive our own divine spark, thus making us children of God as well.
Do you think the Genesis creation story is true? In the world, there are many theories as to how to world actually began. All of them are categorized into being a scientific theory or a theological theory. There is one theory called the Genesis creation story which describes how the world began as do all the theories about the universe. However there are 2 stories linked together, one which describes the process of the how the world was made and the other which describes how life and evil was made.
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” This passage of the Bible “state intensely the fact that men and women uniquely reflect God” [1] Even though the Bible does not expressively tells us what are the characteristic of the image of God it does implied four unique aspects of His image: “The image of God includes a rational aspect, though not limited to rationality”. “The image of God in man includes a moral aspect, though not exclusively.” “The image of God has spiritual aspect, though not exclusively.” “The image of God includes immortality, though not exclusively”. [2] Therefore, because we are God’s uniquely creation and He created us for his own purpose, we should be constantly showing gratitude and appreciation in all we do in life. Moreover, Ephesians 4.1 encourage us to seek God’s purpose in our life so an occupation instead of being mere a career will be a vocation that reflects God’s image in us and therefore bringing glory to Him. “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called”.
First, the question of origin; where did we and the world around us come from. According to the biblical/Christian Worldview, the world and everything in it came through the creative making of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We find evidence of this through the writings of Moses, the author of Genesis. In chapters 1 and 2, Moses describes how God made the universe and formed man from the dust of the ground. Even the book of John describes Jesus’ involvement in “making” the world (Holy Bible, John 1:10).
Creatio ex nilho simply put means creation out of nothing. Creatio ex nilho is a topical subject since it opposes the idea of God as a craftsman. It is unclear in the first Genesis account in Genesis 1 whether there was actually pre-existent material to craft whether he really did create ‘ex nilho’. There has also been a point made that when they said that God created ‘ex nilho’ he brought order to chaos rather than created ‘ex nilho’ Genesis 1 states it was only when God commanded on day 1, that the heavens and earth appeared. Whereas, Genesis 2 says our world was created by pre-existent material such as the creation of man from ‘dust.’ The idea ‘Creatio ex nilho’ lies originally with Augustine, he said ‘creation out of nothing’ does not relate to one particular moment but in fact the universe has its own time and space, which is eternal.
Accordingly, Matthew 26:41 lets us know that “… the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (New International Version). The Natural World The natural world is a consequential part of the biblical worldview, which is our origin. Moreover, our origin, per se the natural world, materialized because of God. Likewise, before God, there was nothing; he spoke the words, and everything became substance. In other words, God was and is the inventor, the producer, the creator, the progenitor, the maker, the author, the founder, the mastermind, the father of all creation and deity to all.
He is half correct in his statement as a theist does not believe in the proofs individually, but finds enough evidence in them to form the belief that God does exist; He is the creator of the universe, and He is morally perfect. McCloskey touches on faith in his article. It is defined by Tillich: as the state of being ultimately concerned as claiming truth for concern, and is involving commitment, courage, and the taking of risk. Theists have faith in God, and treat Him as the most important person in their lives. To have faith in someone on past knowledge, according to McCloskey, is reasonable however; it is unreasonable to have faith in God as we have no past knowledge of God.
