As we all know that Second World War was the deadliest war during the history, it caused the huge casualties, economic loss, etc. It is sure that Britain was suffered from this disastrous war. The effects of this war on Britain were numerous. There are at least four main impacts on Britain. World War 2 was a “total war” involving every nations which at the war. We can see that on the table, a total of 38,380 servicemen were lost in the war, also over 67,100 citizens killed on their homeland. Despite the death, there were 60,000 Britons were disabled. From those data, we know that not only the soldiers were killed at the war, the citizens also were killed. The data reflected that the number of civilians’ death was more than World War 1. In England, the urban Britons continued to feel the might of German bombing. During the battle of England, many citizens were killed by German air attacks. Thus, World War 2 made lots of British died in the war, no matter they were soldiers or not. It also made lots of family had been broken. Another impact on Britain was the economic effect. World War II caused the destruction of facilities in Britain. Some cities were damaged by German air attacks during the battle of England and V-2 rocket. The buildings, pot facilities, factories and transportation system were damaged by the air attacks. This led to the huge economic loss of Britain. Also, this led to the bankruptcy and collapse of Great Britain. Britain had a national debt of over 25 billion dollars. Britain had to pay back the debt to U.S. after the war and Britain had become a debtor country for the first time. In addition, Britain faced the danger of the balance of payments.
