The Loch Ness Monster has been a mystery for thousands of years. The first records of seeing the monster date back to A.D. 565. The monster is so widely known that it has even been given a nickname, Nessie. The Loch Ness Monster became known throughout the world in 1933. There are many mysteries about the Loch Ness Monster including the description, the location, and the expeditions. There are many descriptions of the Loch Ness Monster. John MacLeod claims that the monster was thirty to forty fee ttall with a long tail, and a head like an eel's. Alfred Cruikshank saw the monster crossing the road one night from his Ford. He states it was ten to twelve feet long. The color he saw was green like a toad, and the belly trailed along on the ground. Another run in with the monster was with a businessman and his wife who say the neck was thicker than an elephant's trunk and that there were three arches. The color that the couple saw was a dark elephant grey. W. Arthur Grant claims a different sight. He claims that the monster was bulky with flippers, and had dark brown skin with an eel like head. The Picts carved pictures into the rocks and scientistes recognized all but one of the animals. This carving was an unidentified creature that seems to show the Lock Ness Monster. The Picts were a confederation of Celtic tribes located in the modern day Scotland. The location of these strange carvings and the many sightings give evidence that the monster lives in Loch Ness. The location of the Loch Ness Monster is a legend that started in Scotland. Loch Ness, the loch where Nessie is thought to be, is about twenty-two and a half miles long and between one and one half miles wide Loch Ness is about 754 feet deep, giving this unknown animal plenty of room to live.
