Never in my mind would I have imagined that you can catch on fire at school, where it is suppose to be a safe place. But it seems you can. However, reading this aricle changed how I view life as mentioned above. It made me notice that all the things I thought were very important are not. For example, how I look, how I dress, how people think of me, and many other things.
There were only about, lets say, one hundred and fifty people at these meetings, because the other adults were taking care of there babies because they could not afford a baby sitter. For students who chose to keep their car at home, they may be unable to shuttle siblings to and from school in the mornings, and throw off their weekly schedule. Students who choose to park off campus face a long walk to school and must budget more time in the mornings and find an acceptable spot to park on 9th street. Many people continue to park on campus, because the supervisors will often not notice. But, those who continue to park on campus face the daily anxiety that they will be suspended from the campus for even longer because of violating their ban from the lot. Often they are not caught, because the enforcers of the bans do not mind cars unless they are breaking rules or don’t have their tag.
This does not mean that parents have no rights to what happens to their child while they are at school but this allows school to guide student behaviors though discipline. This idea is called in loco parentis (pg. 378). This concept was once more important in schools than it is now but it has brought forth it idea that no matter the student, disabled or not, there needs to be a certain level of responsibility put on all students for their behaviors when they are at school. This would be a great chapter of the book for parents to read because it would help them to understand why the school is doing what it is doing.

Taylor Heskett Professor Raker English 101 January 16th 2013 Peers, Problems and a Presidency “Taylor you’d be great for this position!” I barely heard while I was counting down the seconds until my High school History class was over. “What did you say?” I proclaimed. My teacher, Mrs. Mckannan, elaborated her point by explaining that the election for Senior Class officers was approaching. I had always been a part of committees and clubs throughout High School but never before considered running for Senior Class office. Mrs. Mckannan said there was a major lack of interest this year and very few students were running.
I had a good time in the Esol program. Where there were only about 15 students and everyone knew each other. When I became a junior I was placed in the regular class of about 30 students or more. I felt uncomfortable and less confident to be placed in a huge classroom. I had a hard time adjusting to a new environment, so I became extremely shy when before I was more at outgoing.
Mary Adams Mr. O’seland ENGL 1113/0179 5, December 2011 Hot Topic Essay In recent years, many schools across the United States have adopted uniforms for their students to help create a safer environment and to direct their attention away from “what’s hot” in fashion to academic performance. A majority of the schools are only implementing uniforms because of the possible benefits from doing so. They base this decision only on the positive statistics recorded from other schools. However, there are plenty of negative statistics that show that uniforms in public schools may not be such a good idea. So the question is, should uniforms be worn in public schools?
One of the most popular debates amongst public schools today is whether or not students should be required to wear uniforms. While many schools have already established a policy mandating school uniforms, there are still many more schools who have not decided yet. Some say a mandatory uniform policy in public schools encourages more concentration on learning, while others say it hinders the creativity and individuality in students. However, uniforms can benefit students by creating an environment in which the students are able to focus solely on furthering their education. Students in grades kindergarten through twelve should be required to wear uniforms because it creates school unity, is safer, and it helps students develop a higher self-esteem.
It is arguable when it comes to bullying being a serious issue or not. Some people believe that bullying is a way of life and that it can make you into a better person. What people are missing is that not everyone copes with bullying the same way; especially when it occurs at a young age. Bullying can cause suicides; maybe not a lot, but that doesn’t mean the issue should be ignored
