The Human Body and Spirituality Debduth Bardhan Many people believe in the idea that spirituality and science are two separate entities. However, through self-discovery I have found that these two concepts are closely intertwined. Science centers its studies around the belief that everything in the world is composed of matter. However, what is matter? It is energy, and this energy is derived from light. Thus, science believes that everything in the world is just energy. Basic Hindu beliefs have taught that everything around us is a form of energy and the world is regulated through the balance of this energy. What Are Chakras? The chakras are centers of energy, running along and in front of the spinal cord. This chakras govern our psychological properties, how we act, feel and think. They are centers of limitless spiritual power and they are circles of energy that balance, store and distribute the energies of life all through our physical body and our subtle body, which is the non-physical body consisting of our soul and spirit. These balls of energy help our mind, body and soul run at its best. However, if one of the chakras are imbalanced or not performing well, it could deteriorate our mental health, physical health and spirituality. There are chakras all over our body, but the main seven chakras start at the base of the spine and go upto the crown of our head. The seven chakras each have colors attributed to them, all of them in the order of the rainbow from red to violet. The main chakras are located at the major nerve ganglia of our physical body. The chakras heighten our consciousness and through the awakening of our chakras, it is possible to attain enlightenment, by realizing eternal reality.
