Aariss Brown Unit 5 Assignment HW420 Prof. Dorette Nysewander 1. Explain each of Dacher’s three levels of the subtle mind (witnessing, calm-abiding, unity consciousness) (p.72). How can you utilize these concepts in your personal life? Witnessing: Finding your place in the world. Being able to center yourself, and gather your thought in various aspects of life. Getting angry, being able to find a way to refocus that energy, and regaining your center without a negative outcome (Dacher M.D., E.S., 2006). Calm-abiding: Being able to calm, and refocus the mind. Meditation is a grate form of a calm-abiding practice (Dacher M.D., E.S., 2006). Unity Consciousness: Uniting mind and body. Athletes do this all the time. It is a belief in wholeness, and give us the ability to surpass limitation (Dacher M.D., E.S., 2006). 2. What are the benefits of developing our higher consciousness? How can the biological body benefit? How can the mental self-benefit? It is very beneficial to have a higher consciousness because your become more in tune with yourself as a whole. It gives you a much better understanding of yourself, and the world around you. 3. What has research revealed regarding each of the following experiences; Love, Forgiveness, and Gratefulness. Why are these critical components of wellness? How can these concepts, traditionally avoided in western medicine, be integrated in your life? Love is proven to help improve the quality of our individual health physically, emotionally, and spiritual (Schlitz, M., & Amorok, T., & Micozzi, M.S., 2005). Gratefulness can boost the amount satisfaction we get out of life (Schlitz, M., & Amorok, T., & Micozzi, M.S., 2005).
