Shelley’s inclusion of the Creature’s perspective later in the novel, after we have already heard of the events, means that gratification is not instantly achieved upon hearing the story. For a large part of the novel there is mystery surrounding every event and questions that are left open. Needless to say, the shark simply refuses to live with a big hole in its heart and dies, pouring gallons of blood into the ocean in the process.
