Title: Health Care System Professor: Sandra Hayes Course: HSA 500 Date: July 23, 2013 Identify and evaluate at least three (3) forces that will have affected the development of the health care system in the US. Our health care system is very complex in the way that it is set up, and also how it operates. There are many different key issues in the health care system within the U.S. that we face on a day to day basic. As far as disease I think that as technology advances so will the chance of the survivor rate. The very first thing that comes to mind is the higher spending cost. As new technology and treatments are developed, for previously untreatable conditions which include the following things like long-term maintenance for things such as diabetes, cancer, and aids? These diseases along will increase the overall costs of health care, As we see advancements in technology and the invention of new medical devices within our health care system we will also notice that there is an increase in costs that is involved with the research and development of new and improved products. Such as a development for newer surgical methods and devices that will be used to assist the surgeons this is something that will certainly increase cost within the health care system. Although, technology advances has been a wonderful thing in the health care system, the cost that is attached to these new and improved technology is very high. Next we will look at health insurance even though it is not at all possible to accurately measure the impact of new technology on the total health care spending, it is important for innovation to continue. Recent technological advancements within the health care sector have greatly improved the efficiency and productivity of hospitals, clinics diagnostics and health administration services in terms of making patient’s records more accessible to both the patient and their provider. Technology related to health care is important because the use of technology has allowed great advancements in the health care field as far as medical equipment and patients medical records. With the use of technology and as it advances hopefully it won’t be long before there is a cure develop for cancer. Technology has made it easier and more convents for patients to access their medical records without the use of technology there would still be medical errors being made. Technology has also made it easier for doctors to offer more treatment options to their patients as well as treating patients faster by having the ability to go inside their medical records. By having access to a patient’s medical record a doctor can avoid ordering tests that are not needed, and this will allow them to treat the patient faster.
