Social media is an inevitable resource of our time, regardless of the attacks, misuse and abuse; social media has continued to play the vital role of a communicator, a convener and the mouth piece of the progressive, the researcher, educator, the young and the old alike. Even the oppressed is not left out. Social media is a river of blessing that leaves no one behind. Over the past few years. The use of social media has increased dramatically. It is now the norm for people of all ages to use some form of social media, whether it is twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. Indeed Facebook in its 2012 first quarter progressive report claimed to have an over 900 million monthly active users. In a similar report from twitter, twitters said they have 21 million active users in the United States, and 145 million worldwide. There is no doubt, social media is a gift to modern science. It is an inspirational tool in the health and academic sector. It gives the scientist/researcher an opportunity to become the communicator of his work, rather than leaving it to the control of an established media authorities.
