The Core Values at Marywood University are to shape us to be the best possible human being we can be. All the qualities that I would want and need to be a successful person out of college are being demonstrated here. Social Justice Leadership Introduction Possessing good leadership traits in an educational environment is the beginning of serving students, colleagues, staff, and an entire network of people to promote, enhance, and produce positive changes for the benefit of the people and its institution. It is a daily mission whether it is a small or large task that is done with joy regardless of the challenges that will arise because everyone is involved in the leader’s vision. According to Theoharis (2009), a good leader has a multitude of skills that creates a positive impact in students’ achievements. They range from supporting various programs that will serve the needs of diverse students, to facilitating professional development for their staff

Communication is important in developing relationships with children and young people because having positive relationships with the people we interact with makes our daily lives easier and more productive. In an educational environment maintaining positive relationships opens up opportunities for good communication, it gives us confidence in our ability and an understanding of our environment. Accepting shared responsibility by knowing what our role is and what’s expected of us is very important, following recognised procedure and understanding shared values all promote good relationships.

Trust is developed by clearly defining roles, expectations, and goals. This develops a familiarity between the different team members, which helps to produce a shared vision and reliance on each other and improves the team’s effectiveness (Bethea, Holland, & Reddick 2014). A highly effective team uses its shared vision and defined goals to foster a sense of group harmony. This allows for problems to be solved and goals to be achieved. With each problem solved or goal achieved, excitement grows within the team and a sense of accomplishment is felt once the process is completed (Bethea, Holland, & Reddick 2014).

As a team we work very much person centred to fulfil Brandon’s statement. When a new tenant fills a vacancy we use their face assessment to make a document called a ‘Planning for Life’ so all the staff follow the same support plans so it is consistent for the tenant we support.
