There are many things a reader can learn from “The Five People You Meet In Heaven” by Mitch Albom. It's a very inspirational novel. Any lessons in this book can be differently interpreted by different people. Someone may learn something that could inspire them to do something different in their life. Someone else might finish this book with nothing changed at all. These are the lessons I learned and how I interpreted them. Like Eddie, I learned one or two things from every person he met in Heaven. The Blue Man helped me realize that we are all connected in one way or another. Without even knowing the Blue Man, Eddie had killed the him by running in the street when he was just a child. In some way, people's lives intersect. It might be in the most insignificant way or it could be in a way that is drastically life changing. Eddie's life affected every person's life that he met in Heaven. To me, it's like when people say “It's a small world.” when they meet someone who knows a friend of theirs. We're just all connected to each other somehow. The Blue Man also helped me realize that because we are all connected, we are never really alone. He had said “The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone”. With people around us and lives always being touched by one another we can never truly be by ourselves in this world. What Eddie learns from his second person in Heaven, his captain, and what a reader can learn from this book is that everybody makes sacrifices in life. The Captain had said “Sacrifice is a part of life. It's supposed to be. It's not something to regret. It's something to aspire to”. Sacrifices can be extremely hard to make but they can be for the best because we usually make them for the ones we love. People might see their own sacrifices as set backs but they are actually brave moves. Now, what I got from reading this part of the book
