The Experimental Design Method It is of common knowledge that the discovery of a new medicine or treatment could be, most of the time, beneficial for the humanity all over the world. In order to prove the effectiveness of these treatments and medications, they need to be analyzed and exanimate with actual facts. For that reason, Psychologists and scientists have designed many experimental methods from which they can test if a medicine or treatment can be really useful for the people that could need them. This scientific method is a standardized and systematic way of guiding a research and gathering information. In addition, some of these scientific methods are focused in the study of people’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors, such as, “The Case Study Method”, which is based on the study in depth of one or two people’s mental processes. Another method is called, “The Naturalistic Observation Method”, in which people are record and observe in their natural surroundings. “Survey”, in the kind of experimental method in which people is interviewer with questions that is based on their aptitudes, experiences and believes. However, there is one of the scientific methods that is the most accepted and commonly use by psychologists and scientists; this is called, “The Experimental Design Method”. The principal purpose of this essay is to contribute to the reader the knowledge necessary to understand how the “Experimental Design Method” is used to verify the veracity of new medicines and treatments. In order to achieve this goal, it will recreate a situation or case that will help to the reader to fully understand this method. The “Experimental Design” is the “only research method that can be used to identify cause and effect relationships” (Samuel E. Wood 21).
