1. Main idea: Research, along with physical well-being is beginning to indicate that today’s norm of over working is unhealthy. Upon review of “The Culture of Overwork,” by Judy Rebick, I determined that all the statements expressed are complete and relevant. Rebick uses research to express her ideas such as when she states, “Studies show that long work hours are a major contributor to stress, depression, burnout and a variety of other illnesses.” (Rebick, p. 398. para. 3). Rebick also uses real life examples in “The Culture of Overwork” to support opinions or facts made about over work and the impacts it has on individuals. An example is when Rebick states “At first I thought I was getting sick. Then I realized that I hadn’t taken a day off in more than six weeks.” (Rebick, p. 396. Para. 1.). this statement Rebic uses is from her personal experience and uses this to inform readers regarding some of the negative effects over working has on health. I also determined that “The Culture of Overwork” is complete because all the ideas Rebick expressed are relevant to the purpose and main idea. I do not believe that Rebick left out any relevant information. Judy Rebick covered all pertinent information in constructing completeness. I determined this because I had no doubts in reference to the main idea and purpose Rebick implied after reading “The culture of Overwork”. 2.“Studies show that long work hours are a major contributor to stress, depression, burnout and a variety of other illnesses.” (Rebick, p. 398, para. 3.). 3. I believe Rebick has used both facts and opinions appropriately to support her purpose. Rebick uses facts represented by Statistics Canada and other studies. Also, Rebick uses her own opinions as
