Two Lesson Approaches for Teaching the Bible (MWGYW and HBLT) DSMN 601 LUO (Spring 2012) Ministry of Teaching Instructor: Brad Reynolds Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary Homer Edwards (ID# L24414690) March 3rd, 2013 Teaching is a challenging attempt, but it is also a blessing being able to able to teach a lesson based around scripture. It was an opportunity to do just that, using two different approaches to teach. One based on a model from Andy Stanley's book Communication for a Change and the other from Gary Bredfeldt and Lawrence O. Richards called Creative Bible Teaching. I learned different techniques from the these approaches. The approach from the Creative Bible Teaching book called the “Hook, Book, Look, Took” was the first approach I had used in teaching a passage from the Bible.
250-500 words Calvin seeks to enroll students who will succeed in and contribute to a Christian learning environment. With this in mind, please write about how your faith relates to Calvin’s mission as a Christian college, and how this will guide your activities and academic pursuits. Why is Calvin a good fit for your college experience and your future? “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 This was the great commission given by Jesus before he ascended to heaven.
This intended that he was the divine Son of God and recognised as being ‘one with the Father’. Christian adherents believe of the divinity through the birth of Virgin Mary and the Son of God. Shown in the scripture passage Matthew 1:16, “and to Jacob was born Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ”, this can explicitly identify the Virgin birth, thus showing divinity. He was recognised as being human, living with normal human restrictions and sufferings however; was considered Son of God as his life, death and resurrection plays importance in humanity. Through the divinity and humanity of the Christ, Christians and believers share the stories through word of mouth.
In order to live a Christian life, one must look to Christ and place faith in Him. By having faith, one may receive forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the salvation of
This gives him confidence and allows him to be able to work on the problem without feeling ashamed. Another reason why friendly arguments are good occasionally is that it allows us room to freely express ourselves. If you do not take time to freely express yourself you could get lost in what someone else wants you to be or how someone else wants you to think. You have to determine your self worth from time to time which isn’t always easy. This is where the arguments may kick in but in the end you will be more appreciated for being you and you in turn will be better understood.
Conversion should be the beginning of a lifelong effort of study. However, in order to benefit from Bible study, we must know how to study the Bible properly. The purpose of this lesson is to present basic Bible principles and methods of proper study. We will consider proper attitudes in study, Bible inspiration, a comparison of the old and new laws, and the danger of following human laws and authority instead of Scripture. Finally, we will give some suggestions about proper use of such helps as translations, concordance, and cross-references.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and accceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12:1, 2). CONCLUSION; Sanctification is brought about in the life of the believer by his separating himself deliberately from all that is unclean and unholy, and by presenting, continually and constantly, the members of his body as holy instruments unto God for the accomplishment of His holy purposes. Thus by these single acts of surrender unto holiness, sanctification soon becomes the habit of the dedicated life. The experience of sanctification is not attained through mystical feats, nor through strict legalism, nor mental acumen. A proper concept of holiness terminates in the obvious-whatever belongs to a pure and righteous God must correspond with His nature, and be responsive to the uses of a pure and spiritual service.
Title Vii allows churches and religious organizations to discriminate on the basis of religion. Most Christian schools teach from a Christian worldview in all subjects. In order to accomplish this I believe the instructors should be grounded in Christian values, and live a lifestyle rooted in Christ’s instruction. The opportunity to educate our future generation along with sound biblical doctrine should not be taken lightly. This should be done by individuals that experience the love of Christ in their lives on a daily basis.
Beginning in chapter 12 Paul discussed how Christians are to live. In Romans 12:1 Paul urges the Christians: “in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.” Paul continuously reminds the people to live above reproach and renew their minds so that they do not become part of the world. In the entire book of Romans Paul discusses the topic of how we as Christians should live, but Moo makes a great point in our book of how chapter 12 is a more in depth teaching on this matter. Moo states that "All theology is practical, and all practice, if it is truly Christian, is theological. Paul's gospel is deeply theological, but it is also eminently practical.
Why allow Christian education? Many people ask themselves this question. Well God, our creator, intended for us to have biblical knowledge of Him, according to Deuteronomy 6:7, the Word of God commands parents to teach Godly principles to their children "when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." This simply means that parents must be consistent to train their children in what is right, wherever we are and in whatever we are doing. Having a Christian education allows students to have proper character training, a higher standard of conduct, and positive peer influences.
