Robert Linder Oct. 16, 2012 Rhetorical Analysis C0mp1113 4:00 pm “Got Milk”? A body by milk! Advertisements use a variety of techniques to convince the viewers of the arguments they are presenting. The colors in the “got milk”? advertisement were black, brown, and white. Taylor Swift has on a pearl white dress, which is very sophisticated and elegant. The brick wall in the background leads me to think that she is on a stage somewhere; seems how she is holding a guitar. Taylor Swift has blond hair, that’s kind of neat but yet seductively wild. She is looking at people with her mustache letting them know that drinking milk will make them very sexy. Her flashy earrings and bracelets suggest the pure richness just like milk. It makes claims unbelievable and wrong. This may seem logical but words are half facts to persuade teens into believing what the campaign believes. For example, if you drink more than a glass a day you will have strong bones and maintain your youthfulness. What marketers are doing is persuading teens and old alike that whatever advertisement they put out there will make you feel, look and do whatever the celebrity in the advertisement is doing or consuming. [Pathos] Deepest part of advertisement is seeing Taylor Swift’s created emotions towards the campaign. I believe the marketers have made a wise choice to use her in their ad. As most people see Taylor, she appears to be wholesome and down to earth. Therefor parents don’t mind for their daughters to claim her as a role model. It’s kind of funny how celebrities effect society and always have because it seems that people cannot think for themselves.
