Both adults and children were treated the same , they were abused both physically and mentally by the SS guards who didn’t allow any child to live happy lives. The things that were seen in Bergen Belsen were stuff of nightmares which left prisoners mentally scarred. There was no such thing as innocence for the children in the camp because the gruesome sights that they saw stole it from them. The smells of rotting corpses in the camp took months to get used to because they were so disgusting and vile. The bodies of the prisoners were stacked four feet high and taken away many days later using
The investigation showed staff members assaulting and using harsh restraining methods on the residents. The abuse they suffered included cold showers, hair pulling and being left outside in freezing weather. The victims were shown on the programme screaming, shouting and they looked terrified one resident even tried to jump out of a second floor window to escape the abuse. Without the investigation and the whistleblowing from the former employee the abuse could still be going on to this day but because of the evidence of abuse Winterbourne view was closed. After the secret filming a serious case review was opened to the abuse at winterbourne view all staff members who inflicted abuse on the residents where charged and taken to court.
For example, nursing records showed pseudopatients writing as an aspect of pathological behavior. Hospitalization is counter-therapeutic and dehumanizing. The staff ignored patients’ requests. The absence of eye and verbal contact reflect avoidance and depersonalization. The sources of depersonalization emerge from attitudes of fear and distrust held by all of us toward the mentally ill and hierarchical structure of the psychiatric hospital.
Max’s father takes him to an old woman’s home, where they are intruders, and then to the filthy basement of a burned-out building. The conclusion is clear: in the world of Freak the Mighty, most homes are symbols of the torn and crippled families that live in them. The larger social settings, such as the school, town, or hospital, are not always as depressing, but they are just as threatening and violent. Max never knows when a gang of thugs will threaten him or when an entire school classroom will start making fun of him. Here too the novel gives clear messages through its settings: communities are not always welcoming, and they will violently reject you if you are different.
There are people to blame for my cities downfall. Due to all the stealing that was going on in council has caused a large deficit. In recent years this has been the cause of the depressing state my city is in. its ruined state of minds so bad to the point we don’t believe in ourselves as much. Also the lack of teacher & student relations has even ruined my generation we feel as though there’s no one to fight for us.
Identify two reports on serious failures to protect individuals from abuse Abuse can happen anywhere and at any time , it is more often to happen to vulnerable people ie. children , elderly people , people with disabilities or people with learning difficulties. it can even happen in the places where you think they are most safe ie. hospital , nursing / residential homes , schools , nurseries. I researched two cases reported for abuse the Winterbourne case and Hillcroft nursing home.
Slaves were provided bad living conditions and less food. They were forced to work in harsh environmental conditions without taking proper rest. They were treated very badly and were used to whip by their owners without any reason. Overall life of slaves was very bad and in trouble because of their owners. According to Northup, the persons who defend the slavery considered the slaves as their personal property because they have bought those slaves and have paid for those slaves.
These gases tortured its victims for anywhere from 48 hours to a full 5 weeks before killing them. The crazed victims that lived through these horrible infections would most likely end up in an insane asylum. To further disillusion the troops, the leadership of common soldiers was given to an officer about two miles away from the front line, resulting in extremely poor decisions; Even the commanding officers that were at the front line possessed very poor leadership, especially on the French side. For a good first hand example of the despair, we turn to the work of Wilfred Owen. In Owens’s poem Dulce Et Decorum Est the soldiers are pictured as "Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, knock-kneed, coughing like hags...".
The Deanery an Essex care home was under investigation by BBC panorama which found residents being neglected and mistreated, An undercover reporter filmed one woman with dimentia who was mocked and slapped by staff, Also another resident with a terminal illness who needed the toilet and was ignored despite her cries for assistance, One man with a chronic illness was left lying in his own excrement. Peoples privacy and dignity and independance were not being met in this report, a man was left in his own excrement (this is abuse) And one woman was being mocked by staff and slapped (this is abuse) There is concerns about the quality of care planning, Unacceptable long waits for call bells to be answered and a lack of suitably skilled staff.
The behaviours which I believe makes my supervisor incompetent are: - Providing conflicting and contradictory information and instructions - Having a lack of knowledge of areas they are responsible for supervising - Displaying no leadership ability or authority, having no respect from staff - By lying, being deceitful and taking credit for other staff members work - Blaming other staff member for their own mistakes - Failing to provide training to staff members in their roles - Refusing to accept any feedback from staff How did that person’s incompetence reflect on workplace relationships and workplace effectiveness? Why do you think that is? Be specific.
