Whereas Mie is found stuck with people who want to limit her dreams and desires, Sachiko is surrounded by those who have similar expectations and wishes. As Sachiko grasps the beauty of a firefly hunt, so do the people who came to the hunting site with her. Also, unlike Mie, Sachiko’s inner thoughts are revealed through the perspective of a detached observer. Sachiko’s feelings about the firefly hunt are expressed within her own reflections as the story pans out, growing progressively profound as she starts to appreciate the splendor around her. Moreover, the final moments of “The Firefly Hunt,” find Sachiko soaking in her surroundings, picturing herself as a firefly “soaring and dipping along the surface of the water” (The Firefly Hunt 2).

As he walks away however, she confesses to nobody that ‘they have eaten me alive.’ This expression demonstrates the feeling of being alone and ignored. The mother in Suburban Sonnet expresses her anxiety in trying to achieve with small children. The mother is overwhelmed by how much she has to do – cook dinner, clean up after her children, keep them entertained and comfort them, presenting the views of many mothers. As a result of these artists’ beliefs, a tendency grew among them to produce paintings that reflected the everyday mental experiences of people’s contemporary life. These paintings included abstract concepts such as cultures, problems and customs which tended which were constructed in the artist’s immediate surroundings, so they focused specifically on objects and people, which were traditionally not considered to have any artistic merit. Due to what the artist focused on, it took the focus away from the idea of imagination, which had had its basis in academic art, and moved the focus onto those individuals and people in their everyday environment that had been ignored beforehand. It is because of the principles of realism that the idea of it extended into socio-political environment, which lead to the formation of branches such as social realism and to a further extreme, socialist realism. EXPRESSIONISM In the artistic style known as expressionism, the artist doesn’t try to reproduce objective reality. Instead, the aim is to depict the subjective emotions that a person feels in response to objects and events. The style is characterized by the use of distortion, exaggeration, and fantasy to create vivid or jarring effects. As a movement, the term 'Expressionism' usually denotes the late-19th century, early-20th century schools of emotive or interpretive art, which emerged mainly in Germany and Paris as a reaction to the more passive style of Impressionism. In the sense that it was a reaction to Impressionism, we may describe expressionism as an example of "post-Impressionism".

Romanticism and realism Romanticism Romanticism gained fame and momentum as a movement of art in the early 19th century and flourished till the 1850s. It was popular in France and Britain.
