TMA 03 For the purpose of this TMA I have participated in a tutor group forum. The key task was to discuss and decide as a team what we consider to be the key public health issue to address within a local authority. In the second part of the TMA I will review my experience of working in a team, analysing the challenges we have faced and skills developed while working in conjunction with my online team. Thirdly, I will assess how my learning from working in a team might help in health promotion in a locality in which I am involved. Part 1 & 2 I have kept a reflective journal to enable me to reflect back and draw from as I gained experience with my team members. For example, we did not have a deadline when we should be expediting to conclude our choice for key health issue. I felt that the discussion was drugging at times without final agreement on which health issues should be addressed. The team leader could have done some ‘telling’ and ‘selling’ as well as participating. According to Jones (2012 p 77) leadership are dominant in creating a team who has a flexible approach. The style of telling leaderships derives from classic theory of situational leadership (Jones, 2012 p78). I feel that challenges occurred in partnership working in relation to decision making. The team members had different opinions of what key health issue should be addressed. Not all members of the team agreed that on one key issue that should be addressed. In the future I feel that should improve on my assertiveness. For example when I felt differently about certain aspect of our conversation I feared to write what I thought.
